I'd like to see SMZX mode 4. In this mode colors would be set using cAABBCCDD format where AA is color's 1 palette index (00-FF), BB color's 2 and so on. It'll be easier to use than mode 3 since you won't have to have color "sets" for every character and colors used for that specific character could easily be on the opposite sides of palette.

In case cAABBCCDD format is used outside mode 4, only first two digits (AA) would be used and it'll be interpreted in a way it is specific to mode in which it is used on. In case of using cAB format while in mode 4, rest of color indices (BBCCDD part) will be assumed to be 00.

This is basically my revised version of asiekierka's SMZX mode 4 suggestion with the added bonus of not being possible at all.
