You should try this some time. I've had varied (mostly awesome) results with APC at 1.5x tempo (Winamp 5.x DSP, the "simple tempo control" plugin). As long as you look past the fact the singer is suddenly turned into a woman or a pre-pubescent boy, a lot of songs actually sounds cool if not better sped up.

In fact, anyone who has A Perfect Circle - The Outsider, might want to use WMP (which has speed control built in) or Winamp (with the DSP thing) and try it at 1.5x, it sounds a tad heavier, and definitely easier to dance too... I like it.

Please post here your experiments (successful, hillarious (Rammstein comes to mind :D), whatever) with speeding up songs.

<@Tixus> Anyway, I set the year to 1988 for some reason.
<@Tixus> And set the microwave to run for a minute and 28 seconds.
<@Tixus> But it failed to send me back in time, and I was disappointed.
<Insidious> Tixus accidentally microwaved the 80s
<Insidious> that is my takeaway from this

gabba techno sounds pretty terrifying at normal speed

i'm sure it would be a health hazard if sped up even further

I don't have Winamp so I convert my songs I want to speed up to WAV and use the sam # "" command. I've only done it to one song, some Audioslave song.

For those of you with winamp who have no idea what I'm talking about:

(Right Click)->Options->Preferences...->Plugins/DSP-Effect->Nullsoft Signal Processing Studio DSP v0.36->Load...->justin - simple pitch and tempo (half-2x) control

then control the speed using the bar.

I use The Core Media Player, and I'm too lazy to figure it out. Too bad.

My brother and I were playing music at 1.5x and determining which artists were which chipmunks at an older age. I can't remember who any of them were - I think Alvin was Ozzy Osborne.

And just as a silly thing, try speeding up "Bloody Well Right" by Supertramp.
Blaugh!
Serious damage to important body parts pretty much ruins any plans you had for living. Bummer.

if you bring it up one notch from center, kurt cobain actually sounds kinda cool.
also, any form of rap is pretty funny at 1.5x.
i'm afraid that the theme from gilligan's island just can't get any sillier. but it still sounds good sped up.
also, at one notch above center, evanescence is kinda cool.
