You have good taste in games, gofer. :D

The airboat sequence was a bit long, but it was pretty exciting, especially plowing through the waters, machinegun bullets bloody following you, and being completely unable to defend yourself.

Three factors behind me NOT having this game yet:

1. My computer is too slow and still runs Windows 98 SE - I guess HL2 would need a much faster CPU. Does it require Windows XP like Doom 3 did?
2. Don't have the money. I don't even have a job.
3. Steam authentication required. Even if somebody else in my family bought the game, I'd have to play it on their computer because installing it on my computer wouldn't work.
Blaugh!

yeah that's pretty annoying

generally when someone starts a thread about some game they want to discuss the game, not listen to someone bitch about their shitty computer

seriously who cares

if you're not getting it, don't post

Eh, I'm happy with Mortal Kombat Deception, THUG2, and Star Wars: Battlefront. I probably won't buy it unless they port it.

This game is beyond amazing. The fools who thought Doom 3 would be better are all in denial now. Sure, the lighting was better... but only by a little bit. Every single element that I enjoyed for the (wording here specifically for gofer) bastard evil unholy pirate broken pre-alpha stolen demo was made better in the full game. It even runs better than Doom 3 on older systems, which is a big selling point. The only problem I have is the authentication that requires you to use steam. Fuck that. I did buy the game instead of pirate it, but then cracked it so I didn't need steam. Steam is a worthless excuse for a program.

They can't port this, there's no way it could run on a console.

Attention, HL2 is being ported to the XBOX. Also, it's being given full support for that Linux prog that runs windows games out of the box.

half-life 2 for the xbox was cancelled a while back Posted Image

the xbox port of doom 3 coming out is crippled as hell and nowhere near as well-running as the PC version, and there's no way they can get half-life 2 on there. if they do it'd be waay in the future, but i'm pretty confident they won't, since they did cancel it a while back.

If they did port Half-Life 2 I'm sure that it would be aimed at the new XBox (XBox Next?) if anything. I'd imagine (or, rather, hope) that the new XBox would at least be able to at least make it look as good as a computer on medium detail would (i.e. mine :D).

Half-Life 2 - Headed To Xbox?
11/18/2004 17:52 PST | Half-Life 2 | by halflife_84
A bunch of you have recently been e-mailing us about Half-Life 2 for Xbox, and when it would be out if it is in-fact real. I decided to help you all out and get a official response from VALVe.

Doug Lombardi had this to say:

"We've only announced that we're doing an Xbox version -- not dates just yet."

There you have it, there is going to be a Xbox version but dates for it are unknown as of this time.

:/ touche! last source i saw was a gamespot article from months and months ago saying it was pretty much cancelled, but that definitely overrules it.

i doubt it'll be any good though :D if they pull it off, awesome, i just don't think they can.

Whee... I'll probably get flamed for this, but if the Half-Life 2 engine is anything like the Half-Life 1 engine (which is inevitable, and the Half-Life 1 engine pissed me off to no end; the GeoMod engine for the Red Faction series is a million times better in my opinion), there's no WAY I'm buying it.

IMO, HL1 was better on PS2 than on PC... and that's just sad. :(

Either way, I'm not buying HL2.

The Source engine > Red Faction engine, by a lot.

Check out some of the animated cinema stuff showing off the source engine, it's pretty neat.
