A Note About Artwork

It is permissable to post tasteful nude art, provided you include the disclaimer "(18+)" in your topic title. This is not the same thing as posting porn or other smut. Know and be mindful of the difference. If you are unsure of whether an image you wish to post is within the bounds of good taste, run it by an Admin privately first.

ooh. harsh. you win, pyro WOO I just can't say anything back. It's impOSSIBLE for me to make a point without confusing somebody. dang. I keep contradicting myself! But that's okay, cause I'm in the thanksgiving spirit. The final say from me is: Forget all I've said and say what you want. The scores from micah clearly show that you've won =) congrats.

I think what makes criticism feel insulting is when you do something deliberate and someone says it's messed up or something. What looks perfectly fine to your eyes probably is skewed in another person's eyes.

Nytar's "purely subjective" view is fine if you come in with no expectations - errors are defined as failing to live up to certain expectations, which people are definitely coming in with; certain expectations of what constitutes achievement of a stated goal. Society has certain expectations in the world of art, and some of them are wise to live up to.

Alright brotha. So we have peace and all? good good. What's okay is what you think. Express to me what you think about my pictures. Whether it's critisism or not, it doesn't matter :D WIWIIINK

So it's nearly 5 in the morning and I'm dead tired. My head is numb to the point where I can't feel it at all.
I'll be posting more stuff, thanks pyro.

I agree with Nytar - in fact, me and Nadir were talking about this on IRC just before. Very simply, art is just a purely subjective thing, and constructive criticism can help if it is truly constructive, but criticising a STYLE can never possibly go down well with anyone, because that's deconstructive. However, what you may think of as constructive tips may be encroaching on the 'style' area. Because artists definitely tend to both withdraw and ignore future constructive advice for someone whom they see as criticising the style, it's probably best to be careful when giving out such advice.

Also I drew a picture. Obviously not by hand. Feel free to misinterpret it however you wish.

dude That's great. heh.

Yeah so anyway, I looked at the picture you drew, and I can't say I like it (because I suppose I mostly go for the real visual pretty stuff), but you must've had something in mind when you did it, so that's cool. I think it looks pretty neat, like sheets of paper lying upon eachother? Anyway I like it how you duplicated (or maybe you didn't, just looks like it) the corners of the rectangular shape and put them underneath to make it look like there was another rectangle just like it beneath it. woot. It's hard to express what you like in a picture sometimes, alright? :D

I'm not sure what you mean by "beginning" whether you mean that my drawings in this thread are beginning to look like Picasso or my drawings overall...
It's more like I, well, draw in a lot of different styles. Just one style could get boring after a while, right? So yeah heh anime Picasso..that's pretty funny. Soon more to come just like it! Tee, I hope you're excited!

edit: new happy avatar. Who else draws their avatars here, whether it's on some paint program or by hand?
yeah and sorry about the double post.

I guess this is kind of like the style with the girl and flower. It's just a play-around joke, and I did it in only a few minutes. Yasee, unknown to the majority of us, dinosaurs became extinct from shoes mysteriously falling from the sky. (See Signature)

Girl picture: Pretty cool, but her head is kinda vertically stretched a bit.

The dinosaur is neat, but the people you draw need some form in the heads. The head is a large dome, and you need to give some space for hair.

teehee. otay.

john: Yeah man that one's rather stupid. It isn't really supposed to make sense. Haven't you seen a dumb picture like that before, whether it was done by someone who was on something or not? The second one is quite crappy, I know :D Just didn't have anything better to post at the time.

micah: actually, I will definitely take into account your comment on the second picture. Even though I hardly put any thought into it...

Huh? I said I liked that one. She's just a little too long-faced. Y'know, that kind of stretched-head look that John Kerry has? Other than that, it's a cool picture.

Oh! riiiiiight I see. Like John Kerry. Gotcha.

And I looked back here expecting to find negative stuff, which isn't necessarily bad, and found positive remarks. Thanks, guys.
And Koji, yeah. Koji understands. He does.
And thanks pyro, "unique style". I like that.

The dinosaur picture--perhaps quite soon, another will come equally funky. I have a couple pictures that are just shaded random objects that have no proportion with the overall scheme. It's all in the objects.
As well I'm making another dino pic from color pencils. It won't be anything like the last. I'll try and finish it. Just have to get a background. The rest I did in twenty minutes or so.

I like some things in this one: the guy climbing the stairs, the stairs, the man at the doorway, the bucket, but it isn't very well balanced. Especially that tower. Literally.
