So I found an NPC saying something really weird, and I wonder if it's just a rom hack or if it was really in the game.

Can anyone confirm?

One "The Cheat Lightswitch Rave" coming right up! And did you actually take that screenshot yourself LogiCow? It could be the Japanese version translated to English! I'm not quite sure how it happened! (But what Exophase said, is possibly true!)

EDIT: My signature is that one virus e-mail that Strong Bad received!

I'm guessing this is a hack, or possibly a mock-up shot done for a gaming magazine. Not that cameo-type stuff isn't common in games, but it's never that blatant in FF, and as for ripping a term from a copyrighted property, they'd probably be breaking some copyright law or other.
Would be funny if this "accidentally" makes it to the real game, though.

I took the screenshot myself from a rom I got at some EFnet fileserv channel.

The game itself gets released tomorrow in the US.

Edit: and the guy is in a random board from the fire chasm, with NPCs asking you to stop your progress and turn around.

You think maybe it's possible that the strong bad email is a reference to this?

Perhaps it's in the original?

I get the feeling it might be.. somehow.

The original? Nope. I've been through the game in FF Hackster several times before, and there's nobody in the Waterfall Cave besides a few bats and a Robot. (Kinda pathetic that I recognize that screenshot, huh?) Whatever this is, it's a reference to Homestar Runnner, not the other way around.

Except it's not the waterfall cave, it's in a new dungeon called Fire Chasm.

Oh. Guess it just uses the same tileset then. In that case, the NPC is probably there in the official release, but I'm quite sure he's not going to say anything like "burninated."

shouldn't a fire-based dungeon have a red color scheme? i mean, it fits the mood a lot more than a blue one...
