Never? As in, you haven't even played any games?

If not, here are some I can suggest to you... the entire Zeux series (Caverns through Catacombs are done in MZX), Bomb Brothers, Bernard the Bard, Adlo, Engine 2, Demon Earth.

I learned a lot of what I know by looking at the code for other games. While the above definitely aren't for amateurs to look at (except the Zeux series), I can recommend that you check out the MZX Encyclopedia IIb, and some stuff in the Engines section of DMZX's games archive. Use the Robotic Reference Manual to see what commands do if you're confused. Check the documentation for each MZX version after 2.6, too, because a LOT of stuff has been added since 2002.

I hope my advice helps send you well on your way to making a decent game.

Hello, my names is SNickideums, but I guess you knew that :p

I first started playing with stuff like this back in 1994, or 1995 with ZZT, I didn't like how limited ZZT was, and eventually I found Megazeux, but I got board with that, and my PC wouldnt run the speaker configuration correctly. :D

I got tired of playing with it, and I went to a new community, Byond.
Byond was a nice community, and it was pretty intresting, but I decided to check back on the old Megezeux community.

Nice to see its still alive, unlike zzt.org which is some stupid kids blog now.

I hope to put something out, for you all to enjoy and make some new friends.

There was one more thing I thought Id talk about. I got a modded xbox  and I recently got Dosbox for it, which bascilly emulates DOS and lets people play DOS games.

I still have to pick up a usb keyboard and mouse, but Ill be testing both ZZT and Megazeux on it, I'll tell you how it turns out.

The zzt community moved after xabbot (the "stupid kid") decided he wanted a personal site instead.

Xabbott fragged the archive, and kicked us out into the cold, somebody opened a new site, but the new site, allthough having way better features then ZZT.org, it's run by a group of hate filled bastards. They're so evil, i left, and came here, and joined the MZX croud.

Hello everyone!!! I am new to the community, but not at all new to MZX. I am 13, and started MegaZeux when I was about 8. I am OK at making stuff, I just don't have much patience to finish any real game. I have made Maze Island 1 and 2 for my little brother, but was against relasing it due to little-kidness.
I am actually teching a young, ambitous person to program MegaZeux, who is 8. He is my best friend's brother. He has great ideas that even I would never have thought of, but is confused in how to make it. He's gotten past basic elements, and programming, but can't do much more.
Well, that's it... hope I'm welcome. :D

Welcome, Naha. You should release your maze games.

Dude, you're teaching an 8-year-old how to do mzx? That's pretty cool.

If I'm going to put my maze games up, I'll have to put some other stuff in, and fix some bugs that I had to guide my brother around. I'll do it, but it will take awhile.

Uh-oh...you were banned too, like Scorch? I don't think you'd do it, but just a word of advice-- just don't mention Z2 and how you got banned there. S'all.

And hello, you can call me Bramble.

Your name reminds me of that guy who made the DarbyTown games. I can't remember his handle for the life of me but I talked to him on AOL a few times back in the day. He was actually in his 50's. That means he must be in his 60's now...

Welcome anyway ;D

Somebody thought I made that game. I don't know it was.

I don't know what the hell they were thinking, either.

I also joined here a while ago (a little less than a year) and I kind of forgot about it.

I never knew that THIS many people knew about Megazeux :p

In case anyone wanted to know anything about me, I'm 13. My brother had Megazeux and I started about when I saw him playing it. I think I was like 6 - 8 when I started and I loved it 'cause I could make just about anything and you could run around shooting people. I lost Megazeux because my computer couldn't handle it for some reason and my sister wouldn't let me put it on hers because she was no Megazeuxer. I switched to ZZT made a few decent games that I never showed anyone. I figured out how to put Megazeux back onto my computer made a good game and part of a sequel until I deleted it for some odd reason and got my mom's old computer. I still kinda miss my game. It was a kinda weird game called "Robots" and another kid liked it. I wonder why I deleted it. . .

Anyway, I know a good bit of the programming language by ooking into a couple thousand games I got off of here and Zeuxworld and am pretty much hoping to release a demo of some game to show all that I know how to do. :p
