no problem Bmzx, I'll send it out in about 15 min when this DL is finnished.

as for you guys that recived the last demo, I have a few problems that I found too late (nothing to big) to tell you

*first of all, if you didnt do what I said in the 3rd E-mail stating that I accedentaly started you off with 10 times too much  money,  please fix it!
*the enemy missle launchers were not fully tested and have some problems
1) if the enemy missle launcher shows it has been damaged or destroyed, disregard it, it will continue to fire untill it runs out of ammo (small problem already fixed)
2) sometimes the enemy missle launcher robot misteriously vanishes. you can tell this happend if the enemy ship with a missle launcher does not fire durring a battle. if this happens all future battles against THAT variant of the ship will loose there missle launcher (small problem already fixed)

well thats I'll I came up with, if you notice any thing odd happening in the game tell me so I can fix it for the next demo.

I just finished trying out your demo, and it's really pretty good.  There's quite a bit of stuff in there :)  My only complaint is that it's all a tad confusing...It would be nice if the ships were bigger, and a in-game help system to remind you of the keys, and what all the displays mean.

It looks great though, good job.

ok, that is the Third vote to make the ships bigger, I will consider my options, the reason I have the ships so small is to give a better impression of the vast distances, and because, latter on when you fight ships WAY bigger than you I can still fit them in 1 character.

as for the in game help feature, I have left the global robot empty just for it, so dont worry every thing will be in there. for now just write the keys on a peice of paper and prop it on your keyboard. also there will be some significant graphical updates to make the displayes easyer to understand.

I'd also like to get a copy; I think my name has a clickable e-mail link on it; if not, then aelunthebard@yahoo.com or baggins240@aol.com.  To see a MZXer I've never heard of doing something that...

"...critics are calling "Smashing!" "Good fun for the whole family!" "Two thumbs up!"..."

Ok, maybe I'm getting carried away.  Maybe it could give me inspiration for my roguelike or maybe a different type of dungeon crawler... well anyway, send it when you can.

Oh... and does Starfighter or whatever it was called happen to be freeware?  I enjoy those sorts of games...

The game is called StarFlight, it wasn't free ware when it was released.  However I really doubt they care at this point, its over 6 years old(at least), and is available in lots of places.

I would recommend downloading the SEGA version, and using a emulator, that was my favorite version.

There was most definatly a SEGA version, I played it too many hours for it not to exist :)  And im talking Genesis here, not Dreamcast.  As for the other I played graphically updated ones, so I never actually played the really old version :)

I don't think they did do a remake of StarFlight 2 :/

But I'm sure that they included all of the new features that StarFlight 2 had, plus much much better graphics.

It would be great to see a third starflight, but I'm not sure how it fun it would be with out those crummy graphics ;)

oh and I have gone through star journey and checked alot of it out, I really like the upgrade screen,  also I might be reconsidering the way my space is set up. also In my efforts to make the ships bigger I turned to your characters, they look fine, but I would have to change the up/down ones to be the same as the left/right ones. hehe since we made characters from the same ship, I'm not suprized the Chrs look simalar.

also good news, soon I will be hosting StarflightMZX on my friends website so all can DL it with impunity. Ill say when I get that straightend out.

Hmm... if it's not freeware... oh well.  I could download it anyway, but I've stopped doing ROMs (except for backup) and abandonware.  Anyway, is Starflight anything like Privateer or Elite?  It sounds and looks like it would be more in-depth than the former, and I've never played the latter for long.  All I know is that the NES ROM is one of the few that you are allowed to download without backup, but that version's too crappy and shaky.  Anyone know where I can find a good version?

Thanks, joshdw1, for the info and stuff.

Good luck, KenOhki2112, on your game.

I've been looking a little lately and havn't found one yet.  I'll post here if I happen to find one.

In my opinion land exploration is a must.  In the stuff i sent you, sjmee i think, there's a purple planet that has my newest stuff in it.  It had random storms, on screen displays, and weapons.

Ok, how does this sound for my planet exploration?
The plantets will be HUGE (they will probably consist of 400 40x 20 char screens keep in mind that I compensate so x=y). here is how I expect to do them simaler to how I made hyperspace, there will be a map at the bottom of the screen (well out of view) that is 20x20 made up of custom floors, the custom floors will come in different Chars and colors, there will be e robot that is placed on the map, the robot will check to see what  color/char floor is under it, and paste a section of land(montain, plains, water, and so on.) from a diferent part of the screen depending on the color/char of the floor under it. this will  allow me to creat HUGE planets with out having to design each one too thuroghly. I just make the small 20x20 map at the bottom for each different planet (easy&fast) then just make a different set of land for each type of planet (barren, artic, terran, lava, and so on) In addition you can expect to find lifeforms on the planets, minerals to collect, ruins to explore and hostle envorments.
the reason I want the planets so big is because I will have plenty of room to hide stuff in, :) from space you will be able to select cordanits to land at, so if aliens tell you on procyan IV at coradatits 15,7 are some artifacts you can go right there. or you can look  for your self, but it will take forever.

right now it looks like I will be using the standard display for the ground (you know the one in H-space and battles) only modifyed to show all relavant info about the ground and so on. again the screen will be centered on you at all times, there will be my omnidirectanal firing weapons and simalar meathods of damage. now, this is a big task I am undertaking so it might be a little while before It gets finished but if it does expect planet exploration to be a big deal in this game. and thanks josh so far I have gotten alot of inspiration from "Star Journey"

Slight change of plans, because I have chosen to use the standard view screen for the ground, I will be updating the view screen now, so that I don't have to go back and update twice as many boards, so for all thouse comments about the view screen being clutterd or difficult to understand, those will be answerd in the next demo, however it will still be a bit confusing just because I have so many things that need to be on it.

also, I donot have a lot of sam files, I have done pretty well with the ones I have however I need a good sound effect for missile launches, sort of a "Vaawhosh". If any of you guys have a good one for me could you please send it over? also I could use a good torpedo sam, ya know, like the sound of the proton topedos from startrek? (really I want the sound of the Ur-Quan fusion blast from SC2 but not many have played it and that sound from StarTrek is pretty close)
thanks
