I first came to DigitalMZX in search of games to download. After making more visits, I started looking at the forums and eventually joined. I couldn't think of a name for myself, so I just used one of my characters.

I knew about MZX for a long time now, about 6 - 7 years I would say. I always knew there was a community there, but never felt like getting invloved... It was about 1999 when I first ran into MZX. My mother had just bought a new computer, (which is an outdated piece of junk now) and I, as I am now, turned into a net junkie.

I was looking through game creation systems when I came upon ZZT. ZZT was something I wanted, because it allowed for programming in its games. After browsing many different resources for ZZT, I found a refrence to MZX and went for it.

The site I found was very well layed out, with forums I believe, but I don't remember... it was probably mworld? From what I can remember, it look very similar to the way DMZX, but that was like 5 years ago, what do I remember from then?

MZX was overwhelming at first with its ability to use the soundcard, and its ability to had editable characters... I remember looking at the into screen to the MZX encyclopedia and saying "wow, I wish I could do that"....

I played around with MZX for awhile, learned quite a bit of the robotics, and then quit using it altogether. It wasn't some time before I remember the neat little program I had found years before.

I started searching for MZX on the internet, since I really wanted to play "Bernard the Bard" again. It was about spring of 2003 I think.... I had such a hard time finding and links that were good I simply said "screw it" and left it again for a while....

I was about the summer of 2004 when I found the DMZX forum and its archive. Once again, I was looking to play "Bernard the Bard".

I was suprised to see that the forums were up to date. I was suprised I could find the games I wanted without broken links. It was a little while before I decided to get invloved with the community. That was about December 2004 when I started programming "Crop Hunter", which in my opinion turned out to be a flop...

Anyhow, that is my story of asscention to the holy plane of the DMZX forums.

It all started on the first day of summer vacation in 2001. I was on the internet for a long ass time at night. I was looking for some dos games and found dosgames.com. I saw "Game Creation Systems" and I was like "OOOooo!!" I clicked on it and found Megazeux and ZZT. I mostly used Megazeux for a year. I stumbled onto dmzx later on but only got games from here I didn't know what a forums was but I couldn't ignore that flashing arrow pointing to the forums icon. So I clicked it and was like "Oh, so all a forums is is just a message board." I joined and released World Chaos. It's not here and I don't have an updated version anymore. I was on IRC randomly but am now on it much more for the last 3 or more months.

Norris's Kickin' ZZT & MZX page

Of course I couldn't get it to run at the time. Eventually I did with one of those akwende verisons that got rid of the editor. Then I got a free 486 for my room and tried running good mzx but it wouldn't work unless I used windows 3.1! Caverns is still like the only mzx game i really liked.

Oh man, Norris's website was awesome back in the day, that's the first ZZT site I've ever went on. I got so many good games from there - Escape From Planet Red by yenrab being the best.

4) Downloaded Sivion.
5) Played Sivion.
6) Read about "Sivion for MegaZeux" in said game.

Well I'm glad I could help! :p

<3 ya, Monthigos. :p

It's a shame Sivion for MZX was never completed but, oh well. That's just the way things go sometimes.

Didn't you try to actually resurrect Sivion:MZX (or possibly something else) as kind of a community-produced project at one point in time? I could have sworn I remember looking at something like that.

Yah, it was called Seeds of Change. There is a little blurb about it in the new Sivion entry I added to the MZX Wiki.

Yes yes, I remember that now. Wasn't the Seeds of Change project an attempt to revive Autumn Dreams as well (don't mind me, I'm just trying to piece everything together in my head again)?

I'm kind of curious how much material you managed to get together from that. Not a lot, I take it?

Yeah, it was an attempt to revive AD. I never actually recieved anything on that, although I did have a couple people sign up for task. I was going to code an entire system where you could check out tasks, but never did. I think it would have done better if I had gotten that system in place.

AD really only died because I refused to renew the domain for $35 with Network Solutions. I got the domain from Legendd and by the time I realized it needed to be renewed I couldn't transfer. NS said it was too close the renewal date and that they couldn't process my request or something like that. :p

I found ZZT on a shareware diskette (GASP DISKETTE) and kinda got addicted to it. around late 96 I found MZX.

I then disappeared into nothingness in 1999 and returned my face in 2003.

what? details? details are for Tech Writers.
