There's an undo function already... for the char editor and Robot editor. Alt + U. One action deep. For replacing stuff on the board accidentally, you're on your own as far as I know (groggily at 5:30 AM; sorry if I missed anything, Exo).

Use the autobackup and reload the most recent save (or just be much more careful).Tired of people asking me for this feature because it's FAR too complicated to throw on top of what already exists and would take a substantial amount of work (and that yields a substantial amount of bugs). It just isn't happening, at least not in the form of the MZX editor everyone knows and uses.

I had no idea about the undo in the robot-editor and char-editor. Good to know though. I should really revisit what's new in the lastest versions... i've not looked at the new changes in quite some time.

By the way, what does ALT+8 do? It seems to not do what it used to do, by setting the current music to whatever was previously playing.

CTRL-8 saves the current cursor position and board in the editor and ALT-8 restores to that position (as do CTRL and ALT 1 through 7). SHIFT-8 does the MOD * thing now.

I noticed while using mzx and modplug and some other players, modplug allows for some options in the music that mzx won't play.... winamp defaultly wouldn't play these effects either until I installed a plugin....

In modplug the effects are simply under the General tab in the Effects plugin area.... maybe its a plugin used in modplug.....

The plugin I used for winamp that was able to play the songs properly is
Bass Mod Plugin For Winamp

Any light into this situation would be appriciated... I imagine its some extra that modplug has added that generic mods don't use.....

I think the menu at the button's overlay should be changed... since the "ALT+8" has now changed... just so that those who actually page through that thing can find the current short-cut keys.

EDIT: 300th post... wwwwweeeeee!

MZX uses libmodplug which is a fork, so some things are a little different apparently. We can (and have) modify it to an extent although it'll be hard to fix certain things because it's not an easy to understand library. Maybe one day we'll move to something else (like DUMB..)

It'd be cool to steal the music engine for monkey island and the like, they had alot of music event synching stuff. however they probably didn't used mods though, and it might just be a step down...

Could you add a width multiplier option at some point in the future? I don't get 640x700, and lately even 640x400 has forsaken me, but if I could multiply the width and the height, I could use 1280x720, and that would look near-perfect.

Also, perhaps similar multipliers for windowed mode? I usually run my desktop at 1600x1200, and megazeux looks rather tiny when I've got it in a window.

Use Powerstrip to recover those resolutions. The height multiplier is just a quick hack for those who can't get 640x350.

If SDL ever starts supporting hardware accelerated surface scaling I'll use it.

Too much effort to modify the rendering side to use a textured quad courtesy of OpenGL? :p

How's this for stupid crap? I'd like MZX to utilise my analog sticks on my gamepad - even only to set their axes to keys like the digital axis.

I believe that'll be supported in the ever upcomming 2.81 version.

A counter for Digitalized music.
A counter for PC speaker FX.
Overall volume counter.
SoundFX volume counter.
PC Speaker SFX counter.

:P

I see no reason to not add them... Seeing as you've added "F2_Menu" and if setting it to 0, the player wouldn't be able to change these volume settings in game.

A lesser reason but worth saying, add it for MegaZeux's completeness's sake. You can change absolutely every single default built-in thing for MegaZeux with robotic, except for the Escape menu and these sound settings. (though, an "ESC_Menu" counter probably isn't such a good idea :p)

Oh, something else I've noticed (possibly be named as a bug), on the title screen of a game that has F2_Menu, Enter_Menu and Help_Menu all set to 0. Before you press P, you'll see that the Enter_menu and F2_Menu work, but the Help_Menu won't. (though while playing, the Enter_menu and F2_Menu obey their counters just fine)

If you were to play a game that had F2_Menu set to 0, and for some reason you had turned off/down the volume settings in mzx, the results would be DISASTEROUS.

You can change module volume with the volume command. As for the rest.. I don't like adding counters. Furthermore is that something the game should really have control over? Lancer-X, who hates PC speaker music, is playing a game with PC speaker music turned off, with the expectation that it'll stay that way. ALL OF A SUDDEN the game turns it on and at full volume and then blasts the most obscene play loop it can at you for the rest of the game. Real nice. Your thing about games with F2 menu being set to 0 being "disasterous" aren't nearly as annoying, but I digress. Maybe I should just remove F2_menu :birthday:

Half-agreed with the F2 thing. If F2_MENU were wiped out, how would you prevent the player from changing the game speed?

Also, how about a "config_file" and or "mzx_dir" option? That would allow people to easily set up MZX as a file type in Windows. They could do something like this:

E:\Games\MegaZeux startup_file=%1 config_file=E:\Games\MegaZeux\config.txt mzx_dir=E:\Games\MegaZeux\

Even if it were possible to have MegaZeux search in the executable's directory for the config and font files (under Win32-only, obviously) that would be splended.
:)

Constantly resetting the speed is kinda inelegant, don't you think?
