Are you a programmer or an artist?

I'm an artist, I like to tell stories, and megazeux just happens to be a perfectly good tool to tell stories. Its limititations makes it even better because it forces me to think outside the box of how I'm going to present the story in a smart way..
So what is your excuse? Are you a programmer, or an artist? And why do you do MZX?

The downfall to programming, though, is that I'm not at all good at it. I am a slow learner, especially in Robotic. I praise Exophase for the quick Alt + T testing feature. What really bugs me is when there is a bug in my code that is right in front of my face, but I blow right past it. This happened to me just recently which was very frustrating, when I realized I had not set my scrollview position right and thought my characters weren't walking the right paths, but they were actually just out of view without my realizing.
I greatly acknowldege the other artist types, because if they're good at it, their work makes me do better work due to inspiration surges.

Anyways I do have the capacity to also write music and stories, and draw too. Im very open with my music and art, but with my literature, Im a bit more picky, having not really released anything with too indepth of a story and more focused on eye candy, humour, and short bits of gameplay.
I haven't had the time to sit down and write a story as I would want to for a game. If I actually took the time, Id probably organize a rather large project with depending on the goals of the project, certain focuses relating to what I want to accomplish. I also tend to try to take way to much on at a time overwhelming myself.
Another good reason why I don't take the time is I find I get bored easily of an idea if I find no one else seems intrested in it.
Also, I find Im much more productive in all aspects of game creation when I am working with another person creating the game.

You could say I'm a MZXer, artist, and musician. And writer.
"Heck, everyone's a writer. It's like saying you're a WALKER."

ARTIST.
I am very bad at programming, much less doing it quickly and doing it well. This is the reason I never get my MZX games done ... Yet I can do a webcomic--two, actually--and ... well, other things on top of that that're art related ...
Tis why whenever I join a DoZ team, I always prefer to handle anything art related.

<@Tixus> Anyway, I set the year to 1988 for some reason.
<@Tixus> And set the microwave to run for a minute and 28 seconds.
<@Tixus> But it failed to send me back in time, and I was disappointed.
<Insidious> Tixus accidentally microwaved the 80s
<Insidious> that is my takeaway from this

I like doing bits of digital art and designing web pages and stuff, but I'm not really an artist in a big way, so I'll stick with music.
As for programming, it's just not something I find appealing.

ARTIST: I like-nay, love creating graphics for my games, and I often redraw the char several times to get it right and then edit it some more. I make sure that I have a palette that has all the colors I need, and then I end up mixing colors later on. I currently have several different palettes that I use for almost all my games unless I need a special color- that's how PERFECT they are.
PROGRAMMER: I'd like to say I'm a rather skilled programmer, though I of course pale in comparison to the likes someone such as Logicow. Still, I tend to always be satisfied with my creations- I managed to fit the animation, platforming and menu engines for Untitled into the global robot :)

This week, on LANCER PONDERS:
<lolilover> I notice alot of Japanese fiction involving kemono-mimi characters always has the main character saving an innocent animal and then the animal returns as a girl to reward him for his kindness.
<lolilover> Well there's a cat that is always wandering around in my backyard. Should I feed it in the hopes that one day a catgirl will show up at my door?

This special subsection belongs to people who aren't quite bitter enough to be a Bitter Oldbie. They're easily detectable by what they say: they usually spit out things like "SHOOT THE CORE", "avacado pretzel sink for the win", "towns marty <3" or some random foreign phrase (etc.). When they're properly motivated, they can make decent conversation; however, this doesn't happen too much.
Suprisingly, Brain Damage tends to do more community stuff than most, possibly as credence to their oldbieism.
Present Examples: Terryn, Kurushimi, Apollyon
Former Examples: The Finnards
Anyway I'm probably a programmer, although sometimes I get slack and hang around so yeah >_>

I like MZX because it is simple and it allows me to practice developing my ideas for a future career without programing a whole lot.

i love to design. john and i still have several hunderd square feet of maps for zokor. i also love programming the things. the enemy code in zokor really has some actual ai in it. the guys are a couple hundred lines each.
as far as music goes, i can't compose, but i can remix stuff for games.
overall, i just enjoy the entire process.
