Okay so like Saturday, October 22, RoSS forgot about S:MZX AGAIN! >:p There was a BKZX between Quasar and I.. SOMEHOW WE GOT A TIE! So Exo judged. Here are the results:

CJA (CJAPHICS.mzx) 1
Quasar (q4gg.mzx) 0

And, here are the games.

For the record, the topic was "good graphics" (kinda a joke that I ran with). I actually had the competitors vote for their favorite along with me, CJA voted for Quasar for some reason so I cast the tie breaking vote for CJA. CJA's game was actually pretty great for something done in roughly one hour, although it got really hard.

Oh no. Cover your eyes.

So I had this idea that we do a BKZX, but each person's topic is another competitor. Because people quit, it didn't quite work but oh well.

The games are here.

CJA: asgromo, CJASGROMO.mzx
SeventhShade: Dr_Dos, Sadraccoon.mzx
LogiCow: MrWeight, mrweight.mzx
Dr_Dos: CJA, cjavsmadtom.mzx

Let's just say...it didn't turn out the way I expected...

Tonight, we had a BKZX about the well-known and loved Revvy, and his birthday (thanks to asgromo for the topic idea). Since there were only two competitors, I decided to have Revvy do the judging. Here are the final results:

Quote

[01:22] <Revvy> Kuroneko's entry:
[01:22] <Revvy> I enjoyed the plot immensely.
[01:22] <Revvy> It felt like it had a deep personal relevance to me on some spiritual or metaphysical level.
[01:22] <Spectere> heh
[01:23] <Revvy> The graphics were superp, and I enjoyed kuroneko's use of contrasting colours to set a definitive mood for the game.
[01:23] <Revvy> I am unsure what the mood was but the mood was very definitely unsure.
[01:24] <Revvy> I found the quality of the music astonishing.
[01:24] <Revvy> Oh wait, that was winamp playing the entire time.
[01:24] <Revvy> Now, on to asgromo's game
[01:27] <Revvy> Asgromo's game:
[01:27] <Revvy> This game was full of allegory and metaphor.
[01:27] <Revvy> In particular it had to do with me, which is a metaphor for how awesome I am.
[01:28] <Revvy> The graphics were detailed and varied.
[01:28] <Revvy> But the plot made me cry out in horror and I will never view the community the same.
[01:28] <Spectere> It can't be worse than what was going in in #mzx a couple hours ago...
[01:28] <Revvy> My brain is melting at the thought of ajs leading me in the dark.
[01:29] <Spectere> Wait, WHAT?
[01:29] <Revvy> In conclusion this round goes to Kuroneko because his game had less black space.

So there you have it! Congratulations, Kuroneko!

OKAY HERE'S ANOTHER ONE

The topic was 'Recycling' and it was originally decided this BKZX would be 30 minutes. However that didn't really work, so it was extended 15 minutes.

The participants were CJA, asgromo and Lancer-X, but because Lancer-X took more time, and my entry and asgromo's were, uhh, extremely unique, it was pretty much unjudgable.

So here are the games. Note the disclaimer inside the ZIP.

Good luck D:

February 7, 2006

40 minutes. Topic was "GOLD RUSH."

Bramble's entry, Time Coins, was an interesting game where you collect coins before time runs out. But there's a twist -- EVIL GOLD MINERS. Back, you gnarly union workers! Finders keepers!!

My entry, There's GOLD In Them Thar Hills, had great graphics and a decent engine, well, for a BKZX anyway. But rock bottom gameplay value. I blame Exophase somehow.

And Lancer-X's entry entitled TAKE THE GOLD BACK FROM THE HIPPIES, which WON (graghfrg), was a game about sticking it to the man...the G-MAN.

PLAY.

And try to enjoy.

December 31, 1999. Topic: Y2K.

:o

ANOTHER BKZX.

This one was a bit more, say, productive, because it was the one hour kind-- the kind we grew up with, the kind we have come to love and cherish.

Congratulations to Guy, who won his first(?) BKZX. So did I! :D ...Actually this whole thing is kinda creepy. I mean RLY CMON.

So, Guy won, yeah, and then it was CJA, and then Nedemai. Lancer was disqualified because he didn't submit an entry. We love you, Lancer, but we won't let this slide. NO SIR.

This link just so happens to lead to the entries. How convenient.

Also this was held today, February 8, 2006. Let's hold our breath until the year 32768.

A BKZX BY GUY WAS HOSTED TODAY

TOPIC: ADVENTURES IN UNUSUAL PLACES

Kurushimi came in first with his entry on several unusual places. CJA was second with a beautiful entry involving pathways and feces, and I was last with an adventure in a closet.

Here are the entries.

ENJOY

EDIT: Oh and sorry, Nedemai. We still <3 you.

The games are here, along with the correct version of my game.

About time for another bkzx, eh?

The topic this time was BAGELS.

CJA won with his awesome entry about crisping bagels and placing cream cheese. I was extremely close but still second with a quest to save my breakfast bagel, and Nedemai was last with a late entry involving finding a giant bagel.

Get it here.

I highly recommend downloading this for CJA's entry!

RUINS OF A BKZX

The topic was "ruins." I won with my entry about collecting coins in a rather frigid enviroment, and CJA lost with his entry about burstroc dying.

Get it here!

This is a very fun bkzx!

There should really be some sort of a (loose) schedual, that way more people know when to show up :p . I mean, I know that BKZX scheduals have never worked before, but something in general would be nice.

Last night was another bkzx. The topic: Gravity. This bkzx was 1 and 1/2 hours long.

Now, we were supposed to have six players, but three of them dropped out. The remaining players were me, Funkbrat, and Prophet. That's right, Prophet! In the end, we each recieved the same number of votes, so we had to rely on Nahah to determine the winner. I won.

http://www.savefile....php?fid=1434671

This bkzx was actually very fun! Another bkzx to be held tonight at 6:00 PM EST.

Oh nice, these were all good (it finally worked for me Guy-- er Spongu). Funkbrat's impressed me with those graphics, Guy's was just good and clean-cut, and Prophet's, of whom I've never seen anything MZX come out of, was pretty interesting. Neato.

omg guys i have some catching up to do

The first was last night. It was about me and Guy arguing about which is better: Shadow Hearts: From the New World or Metroid Prime:Hunters. The winner goes without saying. HOLY SPIRIT, BATMAN! Me v. Guy.

Then there was one about what DMZX would be like in 2050. *elbows guy* Guy has them. Me v. Guy v. Prophet v. funkbrat. Prophet won.

And the one about REDNECKS. Me v. Guy. Not really worth playing. I think I won for variety.

Lastly there was the one about Terrorism/Counter Terrorism which truly sucked. Even the URL agrees! Me v. Guy. A TIE?!?

Hint: Some of these suck because Guy was all "lol lets do a 15 minute bkzx!"

I think there's a BKZX tonight at 5PM EST, in #bkzx, on Espernet. We had one a few days ago, too. The topic was RECYCLING (everyone agrees that this topic is going to be really hard to top tonight), and Es beat maxim, who beat commodorejohn.
