That's neat, although the horizontal arrows should probably be straighter than that. :P

If you're strapped for cash, have you considered doing cartoons for a local paper or something? Or designing for a tattoo artist? Or maybe you want a job not related to your field of study.

In any case your shading technique is pretty neat, although your shape-drawing is asymmetrical... but if you had some graphing tools you could probably fix that (although it'd be cheating). Then again, you did say you drew it a year ago.

And keeping in mind that this was freehand. \:)

Anyway- yeah, I've been considering all sorts of jobs to do with tattoo design and cartooning and the such, and if I drop out of university at the end of this year, I'll definitely enjoy doing both. But ultimately... I want my job at an adult store...

It's a very crude gay love charm. <_<

I've never heard of food dye paintings... how hard are they to make in comparison with other artforms?

Well see, normally I'd paint with ink or gouache. Both being incredibly expensive (gouache comes in tubes of about $7), I decided to give 88c food dye a shot.
