Um, hi! My name is Commander Pancake. This is my 135th post! YAY! I made this thread so you can all help me with my games! Enjoy!

Game #001: Serrated Epidode Zero: Confrontation

Serrated takes place in modern times, with a powerful cult taking place. Many adventure-ers have tried to stop the powerful leader, but all have failed. A shame
to say, that there are only a few non-cult members alive. They are the ones on
God's side. You, Derek, find yourself in the doungeon of the basement of the castle where the cult is leaded. A guard slips his hands under the cell bars,
containing some stale bread and hard liquor. A traditional meal before the victim's
sacrefice. Derek, in a fit of rage, breaks the guards wrists, who falls to the
hard, stone ground. Derek was able to reach the guard's small pistol with but
one bullet. Alone in the dungeon.

Well, that's the story! I haven't got much of the game done so far, so here's the
pretty font I'm gonna use!

EDIT: Also, can someone tell me the secrets to overlay text?

I mean.........how to do it so that it appears at a certain point away
from the player without having to use the ALT+Y to see where I
should write the overlay.

write overlay caf "You found a gun" at X Y

Uh

write overlay [colour] "Text" "('playerx'+?)" "('playery'+?)"

?

Also I do like the original idea of having the player being a prisoner who manages to overpower the guard and escape with a gun. Better hope nobody else thinks of it or else it might become cliche!

Okay, thanks, Lancer. =D

That being a game cliche?!?!?!? I WILL RELEASE THE GAME BEFORE SOME OTHER
GUY LIKE GUY MAKES A GAME ABOUT THAT! >=D

And uh...Guy.......I just used your name because it fit in with the sentence. :(

EDIT: This is my game so far. I didn't bother including the palettes, char sets,
and music, but you get the feel..........I guess..........or I just want to show off
my overlayed text.....................

Ugh. Sorry for double-posting, but the editing time ran out. :(

Anyway, here's Epidode Zero, as short as it is.

I'll put it in the New Game Releases Forum.

I used to catch the 135 bus. It was cool, it only took 15 minutes to get to uni.

In the New Game Releases forun I'd said that this game was 3 boards long,
but it was only 2 lolz.

Game #002: Serrated Epidode 1: Hatred

It has been long since Derek has attemped to stop this cult. He has failed.
His body was torn apart right after escaping his cell. Now, the desendent
of Derek with the same name will try to stop this whole thing.
He has broken in from the front entrance and is ready to face hell.

P.S. Is my font pretty? :(

I see.
I have about .4 posts per day because I don't really have a lot to say. In reality I'm kinda a shy person.
Plus, I didn't really post that much when I first joined.

As far as posting goes, just make sure you're not just drivin' up the 'ol post count when you post things. That's all I'm really gonna say, there.

As for the game, I'm gonna go ahead and give ya some feedback here. Hope ya don't mind.

First of all, good job picking MODs for the game. Good choices, but I can't say I endorse the choice of making a game 500kb with MODs when the total playtime is around one minute. So you might consider reusin' those ones, or something, in the next chapter (if you already are, then cool.)

I have no idea what the plot is, which if you're planning on explaining things is fine. You might want to think about changin' the font. However, the graphics aren't actually half-bad. Your strong point there seems to be your little 1x1 character what with the animations.

There's much room for improvement here, but it's definitely got potential. And I for one actually want to know what's going on in the game. Show us what's up with the second (first?) episode. Remember we (some of us, at least) can offer tips if you show us screenshots / concepts you're working on.

Looks like it's going to be a pretty good game when it's finished.
The story kicks ass, but make sure you don't center too much of
the game in plot sequences and such. Will there be any kind of
engine in this game?

KKarios: The point of episode 0 was to show how the hero of the game can be killed, too. In episode 1, the new main character will be stronger, and actually will win in throughout the other episodes. The backround and story will be explained moreso in future episodes. And yes, I will reuse the MODs because they are cool and big in file size.

CHEZZY: I plan to focus the game on combat, unless it's not that popular with MZXers, then I'd change it. In the way of engines, I plan to use upgraded weponry such as a flame-thrower, wave gun, rocket launcher, ect.

EDIT: 1 minute of gameplay? It was more like 30 seconds for me! ;D

Well, I ran out of ideas for Serrated, but I now have alot more ideas for this game, Secret. All I have done is the title screen, and an menu that isn't completed, but, I'd say it looks good so far.

Also you don't really have to upload what you've done so far each time you've updated. You can just explain what you've done and so forth. It'll make it easier on yourself.

Uptades:

I had pretty much dropped the Secret project because it wasn't very good -_- .

Shocked, for those of who had downlaoded the demo, I'm am done 6 out of an estimated 15 levels. There are 2 bosses so far.

Me and SmartRutter are working on a Zelda II clone. Not much done so far, but I finished the title screen, which is done in smzx_mode 2, and SmartRutter has sent me some Zelda-themed music. It will have the same elements as Zelda II -- a map where you will be able to walk around in, with individual areas as well as battles with ememies using a side-scroller engine.

Here is a screenshot of the title screen.

Also, the water scrolls south, and there is also effect with color intensity.

Every once in a while, the screen flashed brightly, then dims back down.

I might add more effects later, but I don't really know what =/ .

P.S. I can't edit posts with parole, so...

Hey, that doesn't actually look too bad. I might recommend changing the sword color--I'm not sure what you're going for, but it doesn't seem to work.

Also, I don't use SMZX really, but my guess is that custom fading in SMZX is your friend--relying on the default chars in SMZX doesn't seem to be helping you.

Why is the handle on that sword fatter than the blade

Also, please consider centering that title. It is like a burden for my eyes to look at that.

learn to use smzx mode 2 you noob

Kuroneko, it's not that bad. I wasn't personally insulted, nor did I desire to inflict harsh retribution, at least. =(
