yeah i played this game once i think i beat it to (so it must've been REALLY easy if I can beat an FPS) but it was still fun and the graphics and level style were pretty nifty. The engine was ass but it was still fun. This thread is about discussing RotT.

Multiplayer on RotT rocks! I think that was the first game I ever played over our home network. We got it running when my parents were gone for a week, so my brothers and I'd play late into the night with the sound cranked way up. Best thing ever is when you hit somebody with a big gun and various viscera comes raining down.

"Ludicrous Gibs!"

Even more memorable with the EKG Mode cheat on. Dog Mode was a real hoot, too.
Blaugh!
Serious damage to important body parts pretty much ruins any plans you had for living. Bummer.

Like nearly every halfway decent FPS from then, it has a Windows port.

Wow, that was a long time ago. All I ever got to play was the shareware version--but I think I can remember liking it. Funny though, I don't really remember any of the game at all, now.

ROTT is an awesome, incredibly fun game...definitely underrated.

It's like Wolfenstein 3D without the tedium.

I remember this funny waltz music in the game which you could unlock by cheating ...

RotT was the best thing to happen to the wolf3d engine, even more than Blake Stone.

wow it used the wolf3d engine? it looked awesome compared to wolf3d but im sure the choice of colors used definitely helped. Wolf3d looked like a cartoon whereas rott looked real nice for it's time.

ROTT used motion capture for the characters, ala Mortal Kombat. That's one of the biggest reasons it looks so good.

And, as you said, the palette that they used helped immensely.

Firewall rockets for the win. Gibs are nice but not as satisfying as reducing a room full of enemies into blackened skeletons. ROTT rules.
