Selan - is that a battle engine you're working on in MZX? I really like the graphics so far! (as someone who is trudging away on a battle engine of his own)

Background one of Tox's (aka the person who ripped my heart of my chest) deviantart postings.
<@Tixus> Anyway, I set the year to 1988 for some reason.
<@Tixus> And set the microwave to run for a minute and 28 seconds.
<@Tixus> But it failed to send me back in time, and I was disappointed.
<Insidious> Tixus accidentally microwaved the 80s
<Insidious> that is my takeaway from this

Cleartype looks damn good on my LCD (it's an improvement over normal AA on both my laptop and desktop displays, but it does looks better on my desktop), actually.
It depends on your display more than anything else. There are a few places where you can see the subchannel coloring (mainly on bolded text), but it's an improvement almost across the board. It truly excels in rendering smaller fonts, which look simply horrible without it enabled (when it's on, they look smooth and smarmy).

Edit: To clarify, I'm going by icon size in proportion to the rest of the screen. Are you running 640x480?

Here's a picture from my older computer. It crashes all the time, and that is not the backround in the backround. My computer makes me sad. Next time I get the chance, I'm gonna reformat the drive to clear out everything wrong with it.
The reason I'm keeping the backround as it is is because I want you to feel my pity.
EDIT: Just to clarify, my monitor for my older computer is 1280 x 1024, and I don't have a custom backround. I should get one to avoid the ugly explorer error screen.

Your screenshot is 480x300, which is an aspect ratio of 16:10 (characteristic of many widescreen LCD displays). You're using the energy blue theme, so either it's running XP Media Center or you just downloaded the theme.
Most widescreen displays tend to have a native resolution of at least 1280x800, which shouldn't be too bad.

Here's mine. I've got KwikStrip 2.5 Beta 5.7 in the upper-right corner, RocketDock on the side with the Vista theme, the Vista Inspirat White visual style, and MMD3 for Winamp in windowshade mode, scaled to 125%.
The wallpaper was custom-made. If anybody wants it, lemme know and I'll stick it someplace.
Serious damage to important body parts pretty much ruins any plans you had for living. Bummer.
