So... Yeah. I'm making a prequel. It takes place somewhere between when I joined POOP ROAD >:( and when kuroneko did. I don't have the plot worked out exactly, but it revolves around the creation of the maggosol product, and the disasters it initially caused.

For the gameplay, it will be a sidescroller. There is also an element wheel: lightning > ice > fire > lightning. During the game, you can change your elemental alignment to get different weapons, strengths, and weaknesses. Like, for example, if you were ice, you'd be able to kill fire enemies with ease, but take a lot of damage from lightning enemies.

There are 5 weapons: one main weapon, three sub weapons (one per element) and the GIB GRENADES. You earn gib grenades by prying them from the corpses of fallen enemies. They'll work off a particle system, which lets you throw as many as you want at once, assuming you have enough. I'll probably make some system which shows a cursor and lets you choose your angle to throw the grenade. Or, if you choose to throw more than one, they have random angles.

I'm not sure what to make the main weapon, but it has to be available at all times. I'm thinking maybe a boomerang or just default bullets. But you'll need it because if you run out of energy, you won't be able to use your sub weapon.

Also, emf -1 drops the whole party engine thing. I'm really sick of doing that. Plus it'd be near impossible with a sidescroller. I'll post a screenshot once I'm done with the basic engines.

I promise this won't fail like emf 2 did!

Actually, come to think of it it kind of is even though it's passed off as a cleaning product.

emf 2 didn't fail, guy. It had a few bugs, is all.

I reckon you should go with the sword as the main weapon, but can also be thrown for weaker but longer ranged combat, and you should be able to get powerups for it.

I finished an engine that adds a neat texture to everything that has a certain char. No, it's not CJA's random texture thing, it's my own variation of it. If you've bothered playing the AScorp places from emf 2, it's that engine only it works with anything that has the char, not just normals.

I think I'm going to take a break from this for a while.

I thought Exo was going to stay away from the forums and IRC for awhile. I have to agree with Micah though. >_>

I want to do an RPG!

But I'm sure as hell not going to make another emF game for it. If I can get it going good, it will probably be its own series. I'm not sure whether to use real or fictional charecters... Real ones are easier to work with, but I've already way overdone the cameo thing.

Oh well, more on that once I get the engine working.

The intro is done. It involves skydiving.

I'm still working on it, seriously! It's going really slow though. I can't find a good, easy graphic style... Right now I have that thing that was in the AScorp buildings, only with a better engine to work on anything, but it seems too simple.

I have a really good idea for a system where if a board name is prefixed with a pound sign then the global robot takes you to an intro board where it spells out the level number and name in big, fancy letters. So for example, a board called "#2 Inculta" would make the intro screen say "LEVEL 2: INCULTA."

But alas, I won't be making it for quite some time; after a few failed attempts, Band! 4 is back on track and looking better than ever, so CJA and I will be working on that for a while.

I don't know if I'm being helpful and I know you didn't ask, so feel free to push me away if this is obtrusive ;) Anyway, just some tentative code (haven't tried it, don't know if it works, but...)

. "@global robot"
: "justentered"
set "$board_name" "board_name"
if "$board_name.0" = '#' "special_board"
end
: "special_board"
. "The zap/restore is a hack to stop the teleport from triggering it again."
zap "justentered" 1
save player position
teleport player "board intro" 0 0
wait 1
restore "justentered" 1
end

. "@intro bot"
: "justentered"
. "You want something more fancy than this, just a placeholder..."
set "board_number" "$board_name+1"
set "$board_number" "board_number"
* "~fLEVEL &$board_number&: &$board_name+('$board_number.length' + 2)&"
wait 20
restore player position
end
