Well earth got a bit crowded in the year 3000 and smells rotten so it's your job to find new planets and make them habitable.
Your basic aim is to dig up lots of oil using derricks and rigs, and get money off that, while not polluting your new planet too much because that ruins the whole purpose of it. You can also chop trees and stuff and it's gonna be fun and yeah.

Well it sort of creates a new genre and it's pretty hard to describe so I'm gonna make a small demo thing, but it won't be much.

Doesnt sound genre defining, but would be really neat if you could pull it off.

Here's a small engine demo, nothing speshal.
You can cut trees and dig oil by clicking them.
Salvage buildings by pressing del while building.
You can't yet build docks and any water things or overload stuff or do other stuff but the cursors will still show. You start off with 10000 gold in this demo.
HAVE PHUNN!

*cough* Genre defining? Pfft.

Stars! was made in 1993.

That is all.

<@Tixus> Anyway, I set the year to 1988 for some reason.
<@Tixus> And set the microwave to run for a minute and 28 seconds.
<@Tixus> But it failed to send me back in time, and I was disappointed.
<Insidious> Tixus accidentally microwaved the 80s
<Insidious> that is my takeaway from this

Actually 1995, but similar concepts were used in games made in the 80s, so the point still standards.

<Malwyn> Yes, yes. Don't worry I'd rather masturbate with broken glass than ask you for help again. :(

Stars! doesn't have anywhere close to the kind of micromanagement that Chezzy is talking about in the original post soooo, no dice this time Insid. ;)

OT: Stars! is a bloody amazing game.

I like this! Keep it up!

Use some cool music or atmospheric loop.

Progress: Finished everything in the engine but boat building and overloading. When I've done that I'll do another demo.
