I've decided to change the order of releases: emF -1 (now emF 0) is now going to be released AFTER emF 3, as this helps the plot. I've really got no idea what I'm going to do with this installment besides a basic plot sketch, but I expect it to be the best thing I've released. And I'll also have it betatested for a week or so.

To lighten the load on you dialup freaks, I'll just be updating this "progress report" image whenever I want to share a screenshot, instead of clogging the thread with them:

Will you be using the same ideas from -1? eg. weapons or menu systems.

Once again, the game is on hiatus as me and CJA finish up the next Band! game. But, on the bright side, I finished the stage intro thing. Once I finish the intro and Guy's house/mansion I'll put up a screenshot.

I'm seriously considering making this installment's action stages sidescrolling- I really want to get away from all that party engine crap. Opinions?

Go ahead. Side-scrollers are easy to put awesome things into. You know, double-jumping, wall-climbing, and all that. How often do you see those awesome things in topview games?

<@Tixus> And set the microwave to run for a minute and 28 seconds.
<@Tixus> But it failed to send me back in time, and I was disappointed.
<Insidious> Tixus accidentally microwaved the 80s
<Insidious> that is my takeaway from this

oh crap.
OH.
WHAT'S THIS.
IS THAT AN INVENTORY ENGINE

After a night of work, the inventory engine is complete. You have 256 inventory slots, and the interface is like mzx's color picker, but with inventory and not color. The descriptions can be any size (as long as they fit in a string) because the description window now SCROLLS if the description is bigger than it (this is shown in the progress screenshot)!

I've updated the status screen to show key items! Key items cannot be used or deleted; they're there just to prove you have them. (don't let the silly screenshot fool you, they can be more than just keys)

Check the progress image to see.

Looking good... but 256 inventory slots? Isn't that going a little overboard? :p

I guess it must scroll(obviously)... or have item categories.

EDIT: no, just checked the progress image. You sure were able to fit all those slots in well guy, I'm amazed (but I'm not counting them).

OK lancer, yes your right, it is an easy equation. But doing no maths is easier, no?
Geez, all I said was that I didn't want to do maths in my spare time and you start schooling me ;)

Guy just said he makes inventory engine infinite!

<Guy> i should get to work making the inventory engine infinite
<Guy> since there's always a slight possibility that you'll somehow manage to get more than 256 items!
<asiekierka> no
<asiekierka> 32767.
<asiekierka> there isn't a possibility you get MORE THAN THAT.
<Guy> what if they player got more than 32767 items, asiekierka
Huh.

Indeed! I've decided that if people want more than 256 items then that's what the del key is for.
