I've tried many times to make an mzx 3d engine, and I've only succeeded twice. The one with the biggest viewport was pretty good, 4 block view distance and 90 degree turning. The smallest one had a very small viewport, low view distance but had the advantage of 8 directional turning system. Both didn't support weapons, and only allowed for about 6 different objects, none of which were 3d but 2d blocks placed in a close row to try to symbolise a wall. So, while I may be praised for doing a 3d game, it would be a rather plain and limiting one, much like the original 3d mzx labrinth engine. Even that had diagonal walls.
And besides, half-life is already 3d. I want to see if it's possible to show the freeman's adventures not through the eyes of Gordon.
So in conclusion, if you want a 3d half-life, go play half-life.
