Well, I thought I'm working on a bit too much to make seperate journals, and I don't really stick to one thing so here you go.

Xplo
A little game that just came to my head. You are some little alien thing, you fell to a strange planet in a meteor. It's sort of an exploring adventure game type thing.

Half-life mzx
You're Gordon Freeman, and this game basically follows the story of half-life 2 with minor tweaks. This game is my main priority.

Ok, forget about xplo, I'm making a new game:

Island
Totally freelancing adventure game, in 2D! Expect a Jello-ish engine but easier to control and weapons!

btw, still working on hlmzx

Coolies! I noticed though in a lot of your games you don't tell the player what the controls are. Maybe if you can some how incorporate that in to your future games people will be less confused as to what buttons to use? Just some advice. I really admire a lot of the stuff you've done. Keep up the good work and I can't wait to see HL!

In what games didn't I tell the player what the controls were T-bone?

Progress:
Island: Working on the engine, the player looks a lot like the main character in Jello, but he's white. There is also smooth walking, like Jello. In fact, this whole game is a lot like Jello.

HL mzx: Haven't been doing too much on this, I've made a bit more on Dr. Kleiner's lab though. Added Lamarr. :p

I think Jello is the only one that applies. The controls are mentioned in Slave Pit.

I added a help file to Jello, press H on the main menu.

Progress on Island: I'm planning the ability to ride dragons! I may use sprites to do this but I'll need some practice. Can anyone tell me where that old sprite tutorial is? The one with the big mzx player.

More progress on Island: Finished most of the engine, so far you can walk, jump up to grab ledges, jump forward, lower from ledges and falling can hurt or kill you. I still need to add running, attacking with equipped weapon and special abilities ie. climbing or using items like the rope. I plan to add a prince of persia/blackthorne style health meter.

Added running but there's a problem: I'm using shift to run (left or right, take your pick) but it's using the key_pressed counter and it doesn't recognise it for running left. I've created a post in robotic talk about this.
I've also added slippy slopes like out of Slave Pit. Might add a test demo up later so you can tell me if my engine needs work or not.

Okay no test demo but I have started to make the game so I have some screenshots. This is at a Dragon Shrine, where you can land your dragon if you have one. Very Zelda influenced.

Here's another screen, this will be where you find your first weapon, the Dagger.

I'm really happy to see this - there are so many MZX games coming out each with their own unique graphical style.

I hope you're not putting any frustrating jumps or anything. That was my main problem with Jello and Slave Pit. With Jello you need to have perfect timing with each jump and wth Slave Pit the automatic jumping system made it difficult to avoid attacks (Spiders).

My only complaint is that the sky could use a little TLC.

Other than that I really like the style.

I'm all for the abstract thing, but man, your games' graphics have always tended to be a bit on the bland side -- add in some textures here and there, don't just use mounds of solid color like that.

Just add them to the ground, though; the smooth feel of your movement will be compromised when the foreground char is over top of textures and makes small background-color squares around the stick dude.
Need a dispenser here.

Point taken, I'll probably add that. But you must understand, I do have a simple style going (more like lazyness). As for frustrating jumps, I have learned from my mistakes in Jello and SP, and be sure that this game will be very easy, but still a little challenging.

Prepare for a shock!!!

I may be using this engine for Jello 2 (the second attempt at making it).
But remember, this is a MAYBE, and it's also an IF, and not a WHEN.

For Island:
Another reason textures may be a hassle is low character set space. this won't be a problem for Jello 2, because I won't need to add big things like dragons. I may just scrap Island and start on Jello 2. But first, I'll give you as much as I have made. In a sec.

Use seperate characters sets. They have them for a reason.

Here. Just so you can see how hard it would have been to continue this.

edit: Lancer I would do that but unfortunately the entire world is on one board.

Jello 2 has begun! And I'm using the same style of graphics as Jello, piling the solids high! So far I've finished the Title screen and a small bit of the first area, the Train Station! :p :D :(

Wow, looks like I get to be Lancer too. Today is a happy day.

Export character set. ?Have the robotic command, load char set "name.chr".

Its not hard at all.

No goshi the entire world is on one board. Have you played the test? If you have you will know what I mean.

Even it is on one board having a robot load a different char set won't affect much at all. Especially considering the viewport is small so much detail is needed in areas with the pads.

It makes no difference.

I do believe he means to load different char sets at different areas on the board! :p

What is the meaning of this.

Oh I see, but that still would take a lot of work. From now on I think I'll stick with seperate boards.

Since I'm so nice and phluffy, I've decided to let you have a small bite out of Jello 2 with this test demo which shows you the first movie scene and a tiny bit of the train station. Not much I know, I still need to add a main menu and other things. Just try it and tell me if you like it or if anything needs changing. At this stage I can still change a few minor things, but I'll probably stick with the simple not textured style. Mainly because I'm trying to follow Jello 1's style, but I'll try not to make the boards to empty. The viewport is also bigger, which is a first (apart from 16 dir gun, :p, now that was phunn to make. This is taking it out of me) I'll try not to give up this project too.

edit: Oh yeah, must add the game :D

Made another movie, and bringing in a character from Jello 1! Not telling though, that'll spoil it.

I'm finding it hard to stick to a game. I'm now working on:

Underground
An FPS for mzx. It will be small. Only 1 type of enemy and a boss, and only a pistol. I'm only making it to make myself feel like I'm making games. I haven't finished anything else since 16 dir gun.

I haven't finished the engine yet so I don't know if it will work. The only other 3d game I've released is World Tree, and that wasn't really 3d.
