yeah well at least you can rewrite those and recompile!

You don't even have to rewrite them. They're working to support more toolkits. I know Qt is mostly supported, for one, and I'm pretty sure that even things like Motif work right. All you have to do is *gasp* compile it yourself and use the appropriate settings.

Oh, neat

I'll check that out

Opera is written in Qt. It's not as though it supports anything else, because it doesn't.

Qt just happens to be the best GUI toolkit available, it's just unfortunate that the binary nature of Opera disallows decent integration with Qt desktops like KDE.

Firefox, on the other hand, used to have a Qt port, but it's mostly been abandoned. Shame on Firefox.

Regardless, it can still use other toolkits. http://developer.moz...raphics_Toolkit:

ac_add_options --enable-default-toolkit=gtk2|gtk|xlib|qt|cairo-gtk2|cairo-xlib|cairo-windows|windows|mac|cocoa|cairo-cocoa|os2|beos|photon
Selects the graphics toolkit. This is not needed for Windows/OS2/BeOS/Photon, since these platforms automatically select the correct toolkit. It is also not needed on Mac, unless you are building Camino on an older branch (Camino uses --enable-default-toolkit=cocoa).

On *nix platforms, selects the graphics toolkit to use. GTK2 and GTK are both well-tested. xlib is considered a tier-3 platform. Qt and cairo are experimental, you will find bugs. On trunk, use cairo-gtk2 (the default).

Really, it's worth a shot, if anything just to play around with it a bit and experiment.

I personally don't have any problems with the standard GTK2 configuration that Portage builds. The file selector isn't that big of a deal to me since you really don't use it *that* much in web browsers, and I've pretty much given up on seeing true UI consistency in *any* platform.

Here's mine as of right now: http://jkpj13.box43....nshots/3507.png
Also, i've completely reorganized my box43 space! ^_^ It's no longer a disorganized mess, but an organized mess. :p
I have to go now, because there's something lodged under my D key that's preventing me from pressing it all the way down...

EDIT: I realized after the fact that that image is corrupted, and I can't get FileZilla working right... the image should be up in a few minutes

Not really a desktop, but whatever. http://img458.images...9806/ircvi0.png

I really don't look at my desktop that much, considering I always have at least one window on top of it.

I have a plain back background and a ton of small or temp files. :(

Thanks. :( You don't know how good it feels to finally get a complement for something I've done.

And at first, I didn't really like that Winamp skin, but when I looked at it again I thought it was awesome so I started using it.

Funny that I'm in a class that's done totally on the computer, working with OS 9, while freshmen are running around with OS X laptops watching/playing usless mass-produced crap.

Not next year though! =)

So do I win the size award? Oh and this isn't just my desktop having a bigger size. My monitor was doing the resolution just fine - just at 60Hz. I wish I couldn't see the flicker or I'd have kept it. :)

Gave my XP desktop a Vista makeover with the Vista Transformation Pack. Really all I needed was the visual theme and LClock, though. Moved my taskbar to the left because it means more vertical screen space as well as making it easier to have lots of programs open at once. And I'm still using those same two KwikStrips.
