and if people wanted the old behavior, they could just do:

end mod

What about Resupporting the DRAW command? Since I wanted it but is not a command that works yet NOR I can find the original DRAW command version
of megazeux.

Just a tiny possible command support thing!

I don't know if you're just trying to be funny, but no this is not a planned feature nor will it ever be supported in MZX 2.

My theory is that if you want to address individual pixels, you don't really want MegaZeux.

Sorry! I really heard that from other people and assumed it was from a Logicow
MZX version. So I did not say it will happen!

Yes, I may need to work on my english but I am trying to make sense.

I have tried to work with this in robotic, and looked through the help files, but haven't been able to figure anything out. A counter that would show the entire mod's length (like mod_length... duh). It would be useful for several projects that I am working on, that's why I'm asking.

And also a label for when the mod ectually reaches it's end and begins to loop, like if you wanted to have random music played every time another file ended, or had a game based on the music that is playing.

With a current project of mine, I've come across something i thought would have defiantly been added to MegaZeux a long time ago, but it actually hasn't. I'm referring to the detection or setting of bombtypes (hi and low) for the player via robotics.

http://www.digitalmz...=30#entry206488

Also, why isn't the bomb chars and colors editable through the editor like the lava and ice animations via [Edit Chars] in the Global options? Kind of a hassle to always use Change Char id ### ""

Not really a big deal since using that command would require the same amount effort to edit the global chars for it anyway. Copy/Paste does exist afterall.

This one's kinda interesting. What's your motivation for wanting this, and also, in terms of what? Patterns? Seconds? Rows? Just curious, really.

I wanted a "mod_length" counter that reads the length with the same unit as "mod_position" does. Mostly I wanted a counter with this function to have a utility that shows what percentage of the song has been played/is left. This would also be useful for other games that involve music as a part of the main game, like a game that have a level end when the music is over.

Wow, no new posts since April?

Anyway, I'd like FREAD_LONG and FWRITE_LONG functions to manipulate four bytes, much like FREAD_COUNTER and FWRITE_COUNTER does with two. Since counters are 32-bit signed now, it would be helpful and probably very, very easy to add.

Would it be possible to set a .chr file to be loaded in the editor automaticly for each board? it could save a lot of hassle with changing chr sets every time you change board.

Would it be possible to do something like turn off the "Can't shoot here" regardless if you have "lockplayer attack" set? Because in my game, I've noticed as soon as you unlockplayer, there's a split second instant before the "lockplayer attack" loop in the Global Robot executes and sometimes the "Can't shoot here" message pops up.

Maybe something like:

set turnoffannoyingcantshootmessage 1

To prevent MZX from displaying the "Can't shoot here" msg

Also, would there be possibly a way to prevent the "load game" menu from opening upon hitting F4?

Nah - that's too easily done in Robotic to justify building it into the program and give it a UI control and everything.

All you need is

: "justentered"
load char set "snargle.chr"
end

i meant it more for the editor than than the actual game, i use nearly a different chr set for each board so it gets annoying when i am editing the game.

You could make a file that has a list of board names and charset names and have the global robot scan it on justentered, and then cache the results in strings. Although I think editing that file is not a lot different than editing a robot somewhere :(

This probably won't happen because I think people probably still don't want to change the MZX world format. Start doing that and the compatability hacks begin creeping in until it all breaks down...

I think both of you are missing LeDgEnD's concept here. He doesn't want a way to tie a character set and palette to a board in the game. Everyone knows how to do that. He wants a way to have each board in the editor remember which character set you were using to edit it. That way, when you switch back and forth between lots of different boards with lots of different character sets while editing the game, you don't have to remember which set went with which and change it every time. I for one think this would be a great idea.

Like a charset cache that remembers the last charset used for each board, so that once you're in the editor it would automatically use it?

Couldn't work with palettes.
Problem is, lots of board transitions involve making the screen black. You don't want that in the editor.

Okay, I see what he means, but how would you implement it so it's in the editor only? You could set something per board, but it wouldn't remember it when you changed the game or exited.

Write it to a file called something like [mzx filename]_edchr.list or something

Yeah, it would necessarily involve something stored in the MZX file itself, in order to be useful. Which means that unless you could hack it in to the robot data somehow, you'd need a world-format change, and people are so allergic to those. I suppose you could also save the data to a separate file, but then you'd have to distribute that with your game if you wanted anyone else to be able to use that feature. Though I suppose that wouldn't be so bad...

Logicow, you still aren't separating game operation from editor operation in your head. This is not a hard concept, they are two completely separate things.

I just think it would be really usefull for people making huge games

Indeed!

POOP ROAD >:( would have been so much easier to make because every board had its own palette and charset, literally.

Since each game can have its own game.cnf, maybe it would be possible to hack something into the UI which let you set a series of values. Something like:

board-name_charset=blah.chr
board-name_palette=blah.pal

This is probably quite a bad idea though, and it would need some minor (and possibly clumsy) UI changes.

Also some questions for things that may or may not be in MZX (but should be if they aren't :()

-Is there a way to prevent the LOAD menu from opening up if you hit F4? Like how you can disable f2_menu or enter_menu ...

-Is there a way to prevent you from hitting ESC to open the quit playing dialogue box... and on top of that is there a way to have it go back to the games title screen via Robotic?

Thanks.

Why do you want to go through such lengths, to convince the player that he/she isn't using MZX? I don't know about adding the first one, but disabling escape will never be done because it's malicious.
