Dumb mzx stuff.

#1: MegaZeux GPU Benchmark.
I get 5-6 FPS with:
Normal MegaZeux 2.81f
Pentium 4 2.66GHz
ASUS Extreme AX550 Series.
I wonder what somebody with Geforce 8800 will get

I don't think this really succeeds as a GPU benchmark. I get about 15 FPS with all of the renderers (surprisingly overlay2 is no faster than overlay1), and I notice that it maxes the CPU out on my 2.7GHz Athlon 64 X2.

So this would be better renamed "CPU benchmark", no?

I wanted to see if I could improve the speed here, but I think it would be difficult.

According to gprof, MZX spends most of its time in these functions:

  %   cumulative   self              self     total
time   seconds   seconds    calls  ms/call  ms/call  name
 29.79      1.88     1.88                             find_counter
 12.20      2.65     0.77 19408164     0.00     0.00  add_counter
  9.83      3.27     0.62 11661126     0.00     0.00  tr_msg
  8.87      3.83     0.56  7752298     0.00     0.00  parse_argument

find_counter is already implemented as binary search, add_counter looks solid, tr_msg might have a couple micro optimisations, but nothing that would save real time..

GPU CPU benchmark v. 2

What i added:
- 2 "new" benchmarks
- Quick&dirty menu
- Title Screen

EDIT: I added wait 1's to the first benchmark and it speeded up here to 10 FPS. And the effect broke.
But that's obviously not the point here.

Don't waste your time; a complete design overhaul of Robotic would be infinitely more beneficial.

And the fact that add_counter is using so much time shows that this isn't a realistic "benchmark."

Adding wait 1s make it faster, what a joke! That's like saying that a 3D benchmark gets faster when you make it draw less polygons.

I know.
It's just making it optimized and less realistic, and that is NOT the goal.
Huh.

"Just... kill me... painlessly, please."

DonnOS is reactivated. If that is _NOT_ enough, it is in SquareZeux!

WARNING: USE SQUAREZEUX TO PLAY THE MZX OS TECH DEMO. NOT USING IT CAN MAKE YOU VOMITING, FEELING SICK, CAN MAKE HEADACHES, AND SO ON...

And, here's a 9kb tech demo... you can't do much except moving the only window, the cursor (one that's there IS maybe temporary), scrolling the stuff on the window (HEX!) and close the window.

EDIT: If you don't know what SquareZeux is, check MZX General.

"Painful? NO NO PLEASE NOT!"

DonnOS for SqZeux v0.3 Tech Demo
Added:
- a little startmenu
- time
- more hex to scroll

If you want the "Tech Demo" in Programs in DonnOS for SqZeux to work, you must put it in the same directory where demo.mzx from SqZeux zip is.
I must wait for Matt to go online and ask if i can redistribute his tech demo :(

Sure you can. The tech demo itself is public domain.

New build!
Finally some pieces of multitasking are being implemented. But you can't (and probably wouldn't be able to) run more instances of the same program at once. That's why it's NOT multitasking. It's single-per-app-tasking :( And it's a bit due to the limits of MZX

How to unpack:
A) Change extension dork to ZIP.
B) Unpack as normal.
