Here you can see:

- Job position moved right to be aligned with new stats
- HP/MP moved to make a little more sense
- "MAGIC ATTACK POWER"
- "XP REQ. FOR LEVEL UP"

And if you look down at the bottom, you can see the instructions for the assignment engine and 6 empty spaces assigned to Z, X, C, V, B, and N.

Kureneko is well on his way to creating a Megazeux game that matches the Super Nintendo Final Fantasy games for the silly juxtaposition of oversized, beautifully drawn enemies facing off against tiny, cartoonish player characters.

Like the dragon, by the way.

Though the message system is (unintentionally) similar to CJA's, the gameplay is quite different between the games, so I don't really think this could be labeled as a CJA ripoff. Also, the background works on an ENTIRELY different engine, and hardly bears any similarity.

In other news, I've started work on a PLOT SETTING that the PLOT OBJECT PLOT VERBS into towards the start of the PLOT SCENARIO.

Take another good look at the screenshot. A nice, long look.

Now, tell me you didn't at least subconsciously steal the designs.

Now, what exactly are you referring to now? If you mean the status bar at the bottom, that was the easiest way to line up five boxes with character stats while still keeping a general Earthboundishly shaped enemy display. The background, again, hardly bears any similarity to Ay Caramba; mine fades through additive spectrum primary and secondary colors while displaying a sinewave with increasing and decreasing wavelength that loops from left to right, top to bottom. CJA's is hardly even close to that, except maybe trying to achieve a "psychodelic" background similar to that from Earthbound. The text messages... probably subconsciously stealing, but it's a great way to display more than one message and be able to read every message, which was a problem before (the messages can go by incredibly quickly). I could think of no better way to make that work, and I didn't realize the similarity to CJA's work at the time; it had been many months since I had touched either this game or played Ay Caramba. The games most likely share similar roots; the concept of PLOT REVEALING TITLE was set before I even played the Ay Caramba demo.

The concept, maybe. The battle screen obviously a while after.

No excuses change the fact that the screens still look extremely similar. Your background being more "psychedelic" doesn't change anything, since they're the same concept. The background in that AC screen isn't the only background used; there are ones that are a lot more "psychedelic," on par with what you've got going here.

Also, look at the yellow arrows.

The battle screen was the first thing I ever did in the game, and I made it when I got the concept.

I've already said the layout is similar, but everything has a reason for being the way it is. I'm sorry my layout looks like CJA's, but that's mostly if not all coincidence, and that gives me no reason to change it. So what if you bitch? CJA most likely won't; he played an older version of the engine that was mostly the same as it is now sans the message display, and he didn't mind it.

And? Yellow arrows are yellow arrows. A lot of games use yellow arrows; this is not my first game to do so (see: Shaqhut II).

EDIT: And my untitled poop road themed platformer, which you can see above. And countless numbers of games in the archive, no doubt.

No, see, you're missing the point. Maybe CJA will "bitch," maybe he won't. Maybe he played a version of it, maybe you're lying. Still doesn't change the facts. For all anyone knows, you could be lying and did make the battle screen after you saw AC, since the first battle screen pic was 5 days after CJA's updated AC journal began. Actually, the dates make it very likely that you consciously ripped him off, seeing as how the original Ay Carumba demo was released on November 11th, 2006.

Your argument assumes and even tries to force down the reader's throat that I am ripping off CJA. It's like you're trying to make a living version of some wacky half-assed Phoenix Wright chapter (not meant to insult PW; I love that game). Now, I didn't even play the Ay Caramba demo until after the journal appeared (I remember you harrassing me to play the damn thing), so how could I have consciously ripped it off before that? I'd say we end this stupid argument right now and settle with the fact that I didn't directly rip CJA off, but you aren't satisfied with that. You seem awfully satisfied with antagonizing me over this pointless bullshit that CJA probably won't even mind. Like I said, CJA PLAYED AN OLDER VERSION OF THIS, THAT LOOKS ALMOST EXACTLY THE SAME. I can link you to the file on mIRC, if you want. There isn't much different in it from what I have now. What difference does it make, anyway? You can complain about me ripping him off, but the true judges will be the people who choose to compare the games when they get released, not you, who would obviously be biased towards CJA and against me anyway. Good day, sir. This is my last contribution to this argument, since any form of arguing is pointless against you.

"Funny enough" indeed, since he told me around a half hour ago that he didn't actually like it at all in a response to me telling him about the situation right now.

And of course the project goes on; you can't be fazed by such things as criticism, no siree.

It sure is, Kuroneko. All those aesthetic similarities between your game and CJA's are just purely coincidental, and I couldn't possibly actually be concerned or anything. I just hate you and everything you do, obviously.

If everybody thought criticism was "biased against them" just because it was suggesting they change what they're doing, nobody would listen to criticism.

Well, you never asked me to change what I was doing! All you did was complain

redoing the layout of my engine would require me to literally tear apart every robot's code and put it back together, anyway. Especially the message display, which isn't even that similar but oh well

anyway, I'm sorry I'm apparently ripping off CJA's game (even though the gameplay is entirely different!) which is really just ripping off Earthbound, but i'm still not changing my game <:P
