You play as [insert name] a young rps championship contender, your goal is to be the best rps player of all times, but this rps championship isn't just about dumb luck.
You're effectiveness in the three moves (rock paper and scissors) will increase and cause or block more damage depending on which ones you choose to use, and after each match with someone damage will be dealt.
GOOD LUCK.
:3
(yes I am actually making this)

W... why?
Because he feels he can complete mini-games. Plus it will help prepare him for the DoZ. Not entirely guessing here either.

CAMEO MEE!
I don't understand at all, you'll have to make the game for me to get it.

<Nadir> mzxers don't make GAMES, usually
<phthalocyanine> they make experiences.
<Nadir> demos, more like
<Nadir> a glimpse into what could have been if mzx wasn't such a bore to work with
<Nadir> actually, i'm being unfair
<Nadir> i would have made mzx games if it was capable of running on more than 20 computers worldwide in 1998
<Nadir> >:D
<%Alice> functor
<%nooodl> i hear C++ has a thing called functors and they're completely different from Haskell functors...
<rorirover> the result is the most horrid thing in C++, it's basically black magic and it transforms any code you're writing into some eldritch monstrosity

Basically, yes this is just something to get me ready for the DOZ, I actually play to do it on my next day off, it's actually a small enough project I don't plan it to take more than a few hours to kludge into playability.
And who knows I might trump it up later and make it into a worthwhile game :3
Oh and the game is a simple model of an idea I've had for a while, taking a very simple and entirely luck driven game like rps and adding a bit of strategy to it.
See the game will start out with 16 players, (one of which is you) each auto opponent will choose from several strategies, and the 16 will be matched into pairs and play a game of rps using their strategy, whoever wins gets their stats adjusted and move on to the next pairing
16 -> 8 -> 4 -> 2
During each battle you'll be given the choice of rock paper or scissors to inflict damage on the automated opponent, but along with that you'll also be given all the information you'll need to make an educated guess as to the most effective strategy. Information would include your stats and his, and you'll be able to tell what attack pairings would result in what damages and to whom.
if you win all four of the pairings you play you will win the game. However, the difficulty is this: Each move (r p or s) will "level up" and cause more damage to the opponent the more you use it. each time you enter into a rps battle (which will take multiple turns of rps in actuality) you have to take into consideration their strengths and weaknesses and based on their previous battles (I'm not going to make the player watch every rps battle pairing, rather just make available to them a record of the battles much like a MUD battle text output) you'll have to guess what their strategy is, some matches will be horribly easy, some will be horribly hard, but I hope the game will turn out to be an interesting concept if not fun to look into.
I may increase the number of automated opponents if the project proves to be easily scaled up.

Funny but this just reminded me of Zork Grand Inquisitor. A similar minigame is in that only instead of rock, paper, and scissors, its fire, water, and grue. Oh and its strip fire, water, grue.
