Anyway, I'm still working on this among other things. Also, I'm now working on a pixel by pixel side scroller. Smartrutter, I can use your gun engine from your pixel perfect engine, right?

EDIT: but that's all i want to use, I've built the rest myself.

I'm finally working on Whatnot again. I've replaced the crappy particle system with one that i pieced together with parts from Guy's particle engine, and paulguy's particle engine. Now i need to work on coninuting the storyline and adding more party members.

In Whatnon: I now have all of the party members planned out, there will be almost 20 different ones.

Well, With the release of the Whatnot demo, I have moved this to be my main project and will work on RPG Skool afterward.

I will add a Configuration system in which you can change the controls, and I will make it so that you can skip past messages with the space bar.

Other than that, the game works fine now, and I just need to continue working. Unfortunately, with my bad skills at level design, I may need some assisance with that, if any of you have ideas, tell me, I really kind of need them.

Yes, I was planning on adding you as well anyway. Should i put a list of all playable characters or would that spoil it for you.

New i've made up a new message system, totally different than the original.

It looks like this:

Posted Image

The graphic with the text can be on the left or the right and all of the stuff uses sprites from the vlayer. It's kind of based on the message system from the new version of RPG Skool

Cool details on the house and objects. The message system looks good too. I think you could use more shades of gray, though. There are some parts that are difficult to tell from each other, like the toilet area.

Well, it uses the same palette throughout the entire game, but color 1 can be changed while not in a battle area, so I might use that, but it's not really THAT important. Mainly, i'm working on implementing the message system into the rest of the game right now, but I'll continue working on things like that in a few days.

Also, I will release ZeuxBox soon.

Why not? I guess if it works, you only ever need 1 pallete. Adding another just for extra shades of grey would be like building an underground tunnel to the kitchen, just so you can get there 5 seconds faster.

There's absolutely no reason to not use more than 1 palette. There's no need to restrict yourself.

Nowadays I find it impossible to work with just 1 palette.

Well yes of course, but your games are very colourful and varied, whereas if kom can manage to make the game with 1 pallete then there is no need for another. Of course this only works if the game is sort of similar all the way through, but we don't know what kinds of areas or places you'll go to in Whatnot.

Well, it uses one palette because with a game that has certain characters be certain colors, the characters need to stay the same color throughout the game. And, like i said, color 1 can be different colors while not in a battle area.

Awesome, I've finished all of the store engines for RPG Skool and fixed an issue that would cause the party member robots to get stuck in a busy loop if you were in a confined space. I'm working on finishing the Underground, Upper level, now, so there are only three playable boards. maybe once i'm done with the underground, lower level, too, I can release a demo so people can admire the new system.

That may take a week, however, so son't become too expectant.

I don't like working with multiple palettes because the more files something uses, the more bugs and glitches get looked over at release time.
Need a dispenser here.

I've made a small version of the message engine to work in the battle areas, which have a 40x20 viewport, instead of the full screen. I am also working on the MZX guide a bit, I've made most of the beginning and some sort of an options menu, but I need some help on how i should go about presenting some information in this guide, and also help on in what order I should do it in.

EDIT: I would also appreciate ideas of mini games and parts of games that I should use in Mini Game.

What I had meant by the message engine earlier was the Whatnot message engine. And for those of you who couldn't use the alt key in windows, I have made a control selection screen in which you can set the controls for attacking, using spells and abilities, changing players, and opening the inventory.

Really? I've only seen two, one was incomplete, and one was just a bunch of text files... Besides, mine has some pretty awesome features in it so far!

Oh man people, I finally finished changing all of the old messages to work with the new message engine in Whatnot. Also, I’ve changed some of the spells and abilities slightly, added chat codes (:)), made a particle effect that shows how much you are damaged when an enemy hits you (which can be turned on and off),and added a HUD for the battle areas.

I should soon have a demo of the BRAND NEW RPG SKOOL!!! It’ll be shorter then the old one that I released, (I think) but it has so much more in it. So when it comes out, please play it and tell me what you think.

Most of my other games I don't have much to say about, because as you know, i suck horribly at level design, and I need help with it. if anyone is interested in helping me with a game in any way, let me know.

If you want me to explain any of my current projects, I will. They're all listed in my sig.

For some reason, I feel so bored with most of my projects, and i don't feel like working on them. Also, I keep wanting to start new ones, withoug ever completing the old. I need to begin conentrating on one or two at a time. Which ones do you all think I should work on the most?

Also, I guess that i had a different view of the community before I joined then after. I had thought that people worked with each other on games a lot more often then they actually do. Not that that's a bad thing, I juut like collaborating with others on my games.

Its called procrastination. Every MZXer has to go through it at least once.

Its like a phase of growth or something.
