Does anyone know how many seconds are in 1 WAIT on Game Speed 4?  It would be greatly appreciated.

Im not sure, but I'd guess about 1/10 of a second goes by every cycle (or every WAIT 1 command for those who dont know what a cycle is). Unless of course you're trying to run MZX on a 386.

If your computer is fast enough to run MZX properly then I find that a second is about equivalent to a WAIT 12.

Or, you can just get MzxAK and make it wait for one second exactly. But that requires a tiny bit of coding.

Actually there is No concrete waits to seconds ratio on ANY speed. The ratio fluctuates with the computer speed. You might just want to get mzxak if it NEEDS to wait one second. IE : Music synchronous events, Sound (in mod form) accompanied with an FMV, etc.

Well, That's all I have to say on the topic.

That's not entirely true.

There is a decent amount of speed coordination in MZX. MZX does it's work for the cycle (interprets up to 40 commands PER ROBOT, updates screen, grabs input, etc) then, depending on the speed, waits for a certain amount until the next cycle starts. The only way this will be broken is if the execution period takes more time than is actually allotted for the cycle, in which case it'll depend on just how far it's gone as to how much of a slowdown there is. Usually this only happens when a lot of robots are active. Also at speed 1 there's no wait period or page flipping or anything so things will go depending on the speed of the computer.

Anyway, the point is that wait is in times of cycles so it depends on the speed for what wait SHOULD be.. actually I think this also depends on the current refresh rate... which is usually 70.

I don'r remember where I heard it, but i think speed 5 is 15FPS or something on that page.  Listen, the MZX source code is open, take a look and find out.

It's as good as legalised now, and if Akwende complains, too bad for him for not releasing MzxAkGold.

Most video cards have a refresh rate of about 70.0863028953229 (25175000 / 800 / 449) in the megazeux video mode, so since speed 4 waits 3 refresh cycles per frame, it is 23.3621009651076 frames per second so each "wait 1" would be about 0.0428043694141013 seconds.

Let's see, I slapped together some code in mzxak that took about two minutes to make...  It measures exactly one second, and can be modified to measure any other amount of time.  I'll try to post it sometime...

Actually, I wouldn't think it would be EXACTLY one second. The reason is that each cycle takes a slight amount of time, so it would be only APPROX. one second (off I'd say about than 1/10 of a second).

If you take a look at that old demo of MegaZeux Desktop I made, during the startup screen it measures approximately half a second. I know that wouldn't be near accurate, but that's just to time the flashing colon on the clock. It then waits until the next real-time second begins to do the second part of the flash.

Ahh, MegaZeux Desktop... I'll work on it again eventually. What I have on my computer now is nothing like the one I had submitted, especially the encyclopedia (the newer one actually looks decent). I only made *1* engine for it (a neat-looking 3D maze engine) before I stopped working. The rest was trashed and I was going to remake them.
