When I tried to UL the picture of it to imageshack, the site killed the connection about 128K through. I guess that's an omen not to subject anyone else to more wai kawaii sugoi images.

I just started using Ubuntu about 2 months ago, here's my desktop for Ubuntu 7.10.
Right now I'm using a Vista looking GTK theme and a Beryl Emerald Theme for the windows.
The wallpaper was included when I installed the system, I have yet to find something else interesting. The icons are also the default set that came with the system.
I'm also using a mouse cursor theme thats supposted to look like Windows vista, but you can't see that from the picture.
oh and if anyone wants to see when I tried making the windows look like mac os x:

The saddest part is that I'm counting four shortcuts that point to some StepMania-based game on there...woo.

Yes, I still use KDE3.5
I turned off the translucency on the menu after taking this picture because it tended to blend too much with underlying text and make the menu options hard to read. No such problem with the panel, though, thats still transparent.
This colorscheme looks REALLY GOOD combined with DMZX's.
<@Tixus> Anyway, I set the year to 1988 for some reason.
<@Tixus> And set the microwave to run for a minute and 28 seconds.
<@Tixus> But it failed to send me back in time, and I was disappointed.
<Insidious> Tixus accidentally microwaved the 80s
<Insidious> that is my takeaway from this

Also where does everyone get those awesome visual themes from? I want one, because I was using StyleXP but it expired, and have no idea what to try now

If you're looking for a simple command line client, I highly recommend tnftp. It's awesome.
I use Imagemagick for image conversion. After you get your uber-huge XPM, BMP, PNG, or whatever, do this to convert one of them to a medium-high quality JPEG:
convert myscreenie.png -quality 75 myscreenie.jpg
...and do this to make a thumbnail at half size:
convert myscreenie.png -resize 50% -quality 50 myscreenie-t.jpg
It works quite nicely.
