OK done with Cloud Cluster. I think I'll keep the levels secret from now on, but let me just say that I get to use CJA's chiptune version of icehocky.mod

Dear Asgromo: thank you :D

So I guess I'll have a boss every two levels!

I've solidified the plot, which isn't especially great but what BAND! has ever had a great plot. It's probably the best yet though. Even though that's... not saying much...

I still haven't made the intro...

INTERMISSION: AUTOPSY REPORT OF FAILED GAMES, 2006-PRESENT

Cubic/Ketchup/Hogwash, whatever
this was pretty cool i guess? maybe? it was like flantasia 3 with none of the charm, though. i stopped working on it due to better ideas

Flim-Flam
this was going to be pretty cool, until i realized that making rpgs was mildly difficult!!!! i forget precisely why i stopped working on it but OK

Unleashed
too gigantic, too epic. it didn't have a very good plot at all either

Shlemps
was stupid, boring, planned too far ahead. Did Not Finish

emo maggot FREAK! SECRET UNRELEASED ALPHA VERSION
emf was originally going to be some kind of comedic horror game completely different from its finished incarnation. it used some kind of engine that made characters appear like thrice their size.

emo maggot FREAK! 2 SECRET UNRELEASED ALPHA VERSION
emf 2 was originally going to be an rpg!!! i got as far as a status menu before i thought, naw, forget it. then i went to bel-air.

emo maggot FREAK! 3 original incarnation
the original incarnation of this installation of the emf series got much farther than the ones of the prior games, with me even finishing the plot and releasing a demo. then i completely canned it because i didn't like the new style, or something??? the new emf 3 might get worked on at some point ever

Estrange
this is the best title i've ever come up with. it didn't get past level 1 because of crippling bugs i didn't feel like wrangling with. all the ideas and engines eventually got recycled into band 7, though! not the bugs, though

Genission Bromide
died due to, uh, i don't know??????? all the engines and most of the story got recycled into the new emf 3, though! that's what happens with my projects that die... they get recycled... i am an eco-mzxer...

Band! 7 is currently on hold as I work on another project. In fact, uh, said other project is called "Guy's Last Game" (official title) and that name may hold true

Progress on it would go faster if CJA would hurry up with that/those cinemas :D

get to work CJA

Look, man. I'll be honest with you.

Grand Finale: Neo Maggot Freak
Progress: ~20%

Guy's Last Game wasn't the best final note. I figured I may as well finish off with the final episode in the trilogy I'm most well-known for: Emo Maggot Freak!.

The game stars Guy and CJA and the various party members they gather as they traverse the Internet and unravel a titanic mystery. What happened to #mzx? Why has the internet enshrouded all of existence? How does this game relate to the emF universe? And if it does--why is Asiekierka alive?

Find out in the epic conclusion to the, ugh. The thing. Look. Here are some screenshots.

Look, man. I started this fad, and only I can do it right, you hear me Asiekierka!!!!

That aside I had no idea Zoe Awesome was doing the same thing, urgh?

This game has a lot of ASCII garbage because of two things: One, it's a parallel to the random dithers used in previous emF games, and two, because this game takes place on the INTERNET, which, as we all know, is comprised entirely of ASCII characters and smiley faces that run around talking to each other to transfer data

It doesn't really get old because every board has its own spin on it, like it being random lines in the first screenshot, it rippling around in the second, and it being animated in the last.

Anyway, as an explanation for those who didn't play the demo and a recap for those who did, this game takes place an indeterminate amount of time after emF 2. In it, the internet has expanded to engulf the universe, and is now referred to appropriately as the Endonet. In this strange new universe we find the old POOP ROAD >:( citizens have lost their steam, and POOP ROAD >:( has effectively ground to a halt, Kom being the only one supporting it.

Asiekierka, apparently, didn't get the memo, and summons together a rag-tag group of cronies to help him take it over and allow ASCorp to rule MZX. But wait--Asiekierka died at the end of emF 2, right? Why doesn't anyone remember? Find out in yada yada.

Man I just replayed emF 1 and 2 and the old version of emF 3. It immediately comes to mind that nmF is nothing like either of them

nmF actually has a somewhat serious tone and a much more complex plot. But I must admit that I laughed several times at the hilarity of the original emF, because to anyone who wasn't completely fluent in POOP ROAD >:( in-jokes it must have been absolutely absurd.

The newer version of emF 3--which nobody's ever seen and which is also discontinued--was much more similar to the previous games than nmF, and had a fairly interesting plot about CJA and Guy being gods or something.

To be honest, Neo Maggot FREAK wasn't originally planned to be the conclusion to the emF series or even at all related to it. I just got up one day and said, "I want to give my games some solid, epic closure." The idea to integrate it with emF came around the time I was making the first level. But I must say, what I've come up with works very well and gives a definitive conclusion. Plus, I've always wanted to do another emF game, for the sheer sake of nostalgia. Those were POOP ROAD >:('s glory days...

I'm considering releasing nmF in two parts. Opinions!

I know it's a sequel to emF, and plays just like that in the action stages, but... have you thought about it having anything to do at all with maggots?

emF hasn't actually had maggots in it since the original.

However, every emF to date has contained maggosol as a plot element, including both of the unreleased versions of emF 3. Whether or not that will factor into the plot, who knows! I do, that's who! Your avatar is horrible. Change it

I personally think it... uh, er, let's stay on topic :D

Anyway, I don't think that having maggots in the game is really that important, the original had it, and that's what sparked the series, that's all that really matters in my opinion. Guy keep working on it though, OR ELSE...
