I got to thinking after reading Why-Fi's post in my journal... What do all of you really think about ZeuxBox? Please explain your answers and give me ideas on changes and improvements that could/should be made to anything, and any ideas you have regarding me entirely starting over on it.

EDIT: Personally, I think it was a great idea, but it should be entirely redone. It needs a good system and clear rules from the start.

A project like ZeuxBox needs to have a firm set of rules defined from the very start, and also allow the submitter a little more freedom in creating their "domain". I've actually been considering contributing to ZeuxBox myself, but I think it could do with an overhaul first.

Actually since I know what you're trying to achieve with ZeuxBox I think it should be done a different way.

Rather than create your own domains how about actually making it an actual game. Rather than these rooms to boost ego instead have a series of action or puzzle areas. The different styles programmer will have will make each area seem fresh.

Hmm, you know, that is a good idea - allow each participant to create a small game within their domain, perhaps with some kind of stat-tracking mechanism added after-the-fact - once the entire ZeuxBox is filled, it can be released as a variety game, and players can compare how well they did on each of the mini-games.

Hmm, that seems like a good idea to me, too, but I think some peopel might like the ability to have their own informational things and such too. Perhaps a game zone within it or something? Or maybe even an entirely seperate project, as well as ZeuxBox.

I believe that I shall entirely remake this project. As for making up rules and such, I'd need help. I'd probably need one or two people to help me facilitate this, because of what i am lacking in (graphics, layout, etc.). If you would like to help me with this in some way, tell me what you would like to do.

Making rules is obviously just using your common sense. Obviously you would have rules such as

- Keep your submission worksafe.
- No devoting the board to trolling another member
- Have rules involving maximum file size, board number, board sizes, char sets, palettes, sound files... etc
- If you're using multiple boards please clearly list how the boards need to be connected

And so forth

I honestly might rather see more of your other stuff; you've got lots of neat projects going. But that's just me.

Well, I don't work on my other games because i have no level design skills, and that really keeps me from doing anything at all project wise.

The limits were what i really had trouble with, like board size and such. Also making instructions on what to do to make the space/board/whatever.
