I wasn't able to get into Far Cry 1, but maybe that was due to the fact that the disk was damaged and crashed every so often.

If you do look into it, bear in mind that this is Far Cry in name only - basically, combat and stealth are both vastly improved, the plot is better, and best of all, there are no more bullshit super mutants.

stealth is slightly improved, but only enough to allow for decent sniping. i was a little disappointed that sneaking into a guard post at night and silently killing isn't very intuitive or simple.

combat, on the flip side, is VASTLY improved. the weapons are fantastic! oh, and there's still that stupid hang glider.

But yeah, it's an interesting dichotomy - you've got this serious underpinning story, but the actual setting and many of the concepts etc. are ridiculous - you've got buses and alarm clocks, but for the most part the setting is sword-and-sorcery fantasy. You pray to the level god once you've gained enough experience to gain levels, characters carry very modern items like flash cameras etc. and in general there seems to be no effort involved in creating a consistent, serious 'world' - AliceSoft just put whatever the heck they wanted in for the most part. But it's so fun I don't mind - the characters are great, the battles are surprisingly fun despite being 1v1 and there's plenty of room for strategy. The enemies and bosses also range from the mundane to the bizarre-but-cute to the outright ridiculous - this guy bats baseballs and other things (like cats) at you, shouting engrishy phrases like 'KILL YOU' and 'OUT!'

I'm currently on Halo 2 now, that damn KUF: Heroes game was too annoying. The characters won't do as they're told, and they ignore my commands. Sort of like when i look after my little sister, she does the same.

I am currently loving my Xbox360 and Playing (in order of most played):

1: Fallout 3 (loving the open endedness but always seem to want more from Bethesda games)
2: Gears of War 2 (Just great graphics and addictive)
3: CoD5 (The Zombie level of so much fun)
4: Fable (cant really get into it yet but when I get enough time I will)

I'm playing halo 2 on my x-box. A good game, but weird. The Covenent aliens are surposed to be bad ass, but it's hard to feel threatened when the grunts talk like Alvin and the Chipmunks on crack.
