I want to make a game similar to the infamous "Adventures of Li'l Buddy" by Viovis, which is 10 years old already.

Will I ever? Who knows, but I'm creating this thread just in case.

I'm actually pretty serious about finally releasing a game for MZX (something that I've been trying to do off and on since 2000), and I do have a good idea what the game is going to be like. So yeah. I probably won't have time for it right now, though, since I'm going to be doing thingy things. So this will almost certainly be a summer project. I might get some preliminary work done on it before then, though, so who knows?

Oh, and I'll give you a clue about what it will be like: think Yume Nikki, except don't.

Yeah.

So I've actually been doing some preliminary work on this thing! Mostly just editing the future music to be used (I'm not making my own music for this thing, even though I want to). Haven't started on the actual game just yet, but it's been going around in my head a whole lot and I have decided that most of the characters are going to come from the ASCII charset ala ZZT (not all of them will, though). Programming is going to be pretty basic, probably the result of reverse engineering from other games and all that (no, I'm not going to steal engines or anything, so don't bitch about that). The strength of the game will probably arise from it's thick atmosphere. Yeah.

Is this game going to be any good?

<Malwyn> Yes, yes. Don't worry I'd rather masturbate with broken glass than ask you for help again. :(

I certainly hope so...I'm aiming for originality, at least.

So this game actually has a name now! It is called "Kromozomaz" and the subtitle will probably be "The Disconcerting Disconcerto". Still focusing on the music first, which may actually be promising since my brother (who is talented at making 8-bit music) has asked if he could help out with it. I said "Sure bro, but first I actually have to get some of the game done first so that you can make music that is appropriate to it's atmosphere." So it looks like I will have to make some of the game first before the music, after all. Not that big of a problem since I do in fact know where to go with it at least vaguely, but my Robo-P skillz are rusty from years of neglect and I don't necessary have the most free time in the world (even though it's spring break). But, I am pretty fucking determined to finally release a MZX game (something that I've wanted to do for nine years) and after all of this creativity welling inside of me from finally leaving you-know-where a year and a half ago it is just screaming to get out and cross some fabulous boundaries.

You guys should be pretty fucking excited. Seriously.

On a side note, ASCII character sets are only good when you use them originally, keep that in mind.

I am a seasoned ZZT veteran, so I know what I am fucking doing when I say that I am going to use ASCII characters. Trust me on that one.

It's not going to be completely ASCII, anyways. Just mostly.

I wasn't trying to sound negative, really. Keep up the job, just don't tell people to get excited about things that are 5 to 10% done, you know.

P.S. "seasoned ZZT veteran" is an awesome term.
