Wiki mistake

Attempting to change the wiki preferences caused the following error message:

Scratch that. You can't change account wiki preferences because we have things linked in with the IPB database. Sorry, it's just a limitation we have to live with to keep everything in sync and reduce the number of manhours the admins spend de-spamming the Wiki.

Would it work if you added a field to the IPB database?

Not without a significant amount of effort, and we tried this previously with DigitAuth. It managed to alienate several members of the community and I'd rather not push my luck again.

Ah, OK.

But can the preferences be stored in cookies instead, possibly? (You could check to see if there is a MediaWiki extension for doing this, and install it)
