So I started playing MGS3 and while the plot is quite bearable, the aesthetics are sort of goofy and the lack of a radar is really, really horrible to me. Sure, it's like real espionage in that you have to keep track of every enemy manually, but I just don't like playing games like that, and this is a game. Video game.

I forgot but it I mainly played in short bursts and got through it pretty quickly. You'll probably finish it over the weekend if you play constantly.

That's generally unimportant, its really not that hard to sneak past the early ones. Just watch out for the blasted hounds. They're a pain in the neck.

Throw food at them to put them to sleep, and then just stay the hell away from them because they can still wake up if you're near.

It's good stuff, like a cross between a tactical RPG and a dungeon crawl.
The story goes:
At the start of the game, the demon king of the underworld has just been sealed. A tiny bit of the demon king's essence escapes, and you, a young demon girl finds it and you set out to help restore him to power.

"There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences."
- P.J. O'Rourke

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience."
- C.S. Lewis

This week, on LANCER PONDERS:
<lolilover> I notice alot of Japanese fiction involving kemono-mimi characters always has the main character saving an innocent animal and then the animal returns as a girl to reward him for his kindness.
<lolilover> Well there's a cat that is always wandering around in my backyard. Should I feed it in the hopes that one day a catgirl will show up at my door?
