I would like to request this from everyone who plays this:
If you are disappointed by the lack of a crafting result TELL ME ABOUT IT. Like if you totally expected A + B to make C, then well it probably SHOULD and I should put it in, so tell me!

I'm enjoying this.

Tried stone+iron+fire herb thing, I think, and no steel. But that's just based on probably faulty DF associations that might not flow into your world.

No, no, I'll add that. Stone is fine, it's technically carbon anyway. The actual formula is iron + coal * fire herb (in that order).

When you craft a correct recipe that is out of place, the game will randomly swap two ingredients, attempt to craft again, do that a few times, and then destroy an ingredient, and repeat until they are all destroyed or you succeed.

Ah. The other thing I tried to refine iron I think was using the herb for improving inorganic materials. (I think the combo was just that herb and the iron?) Don't shoot me if iron's organic/crabon-based, I haven't had a proper bio or chem class since high school.

Iron is Iron.

EDIT: To clarify, its its own element. An organic compound is by definition more than one element, one of which must be Carbon.

The herb for improving inorganic materials should at the least result in purer iron though (since something you mine out of the ground would be not pure Iron but an Ore), if not an alloy of iron and carbon which is what steel is.
