So the stupid "pick up musical notes with the beat of the music" idea wasn't mine (it's a dumb idea).

But otherwise I did most of the work on this. It's pretty cool, and you should check it out.

Also it's 14mb so it takes forever to load, and doesn't quite fit nicely in the Kongregate window

BUT STILL

Maybe it's just me, but the controls for this seem really stiff and unintuitive -- I had a lot of trouble moving the character around and since the board scrolls up anyways it's awkward to "pick up" musical notes at the right time.

Again, maybe I'm just misunderstanding.

I added a "click to move" feature that is sort of a cheat but makes the game significantly easier. :<

...And a preloader. And it's 6.6mb instead of 14mb now.

you should have just said that it was a shit idea and not work on it at all. this game is terrible.
<Nadir> mzxers don't make GAMES, usually
<phthalocyanine> they make experiences.
<Nadir> demos, more like
<Nadir> a glimpse into what could have been if mzx wasn't such a bore to work with
<Nadir> actually, i'm being unfair
<Nadir> i would have made mzx games if it was capable of running on more than 20 computers worldwide in 1998
<Nadir> >:D

<%Alice> functor
<%nooodl> i hear C++ has a thing called functors and they're completely different from Haskell functors...
<rorirover> the result is the most horrid thing in C++, it's basically black magic and it transforms any code you're writing into some eldritch monstrosity

I know

my team was like "we should do the game like that" and I was like "but it doesn't work, it would suck" and they were like "but we like the idea and it's original" and I was like "but it doesn't work, I can't see how it works" and they were like "but we like it"

then I asked the teacher if I could do a project on my own and he was like "no"

so I was like "well it's gonna suck so to make it at least tolerable let's add side stuff to distract you"

then only one of my 3 teammates even helped on the project at all

I told the teacher and he has yet to reply

so eeeeeh

Should have told them that the idea is far from original, and that unless everything is properly tweaked, it shits on the player.

I was in a game design club in 6th grade

It really sucks when the only other people who are don't have half of a clue about what makes a game not suck and aren't willing to listen to your input because they all think you're "gay"

* looks at the games she was making back in middle school * Augh :(
