I thought the Mantra system was pretty novel and fun to screw around with, but the plot didn't really pull me in and the time limit seemed really restrictive.

I spent the past week or so playing Privateer: Ascii Sector. The original kicked ass but this one adds more mission variety, ground combat, and custom quests. And all done in ASCII.

But I'm all done now. Got all the upgrades, seen all the missions, and an enemy capital ship got me stuck anyway. I'll just wait for the next promising version; and when it comes out, I'll start all over again because it's just so addictive...

...I better finish my next MZX game before then.

I never actually got a chance to try the ground combat; it sounds really awesome but I keep getting my ship destroyed before I can finish any of the missions I get from the bar. Maybe I should experiment with merchant trade first.

Dragon Age. I found it to be really boring except for the one point in the Dwarf Noble narrative where you could just up and say "well, kill a guy"

The Witcher, it's an okay game, the most interesting thing about it is it comes from Poland (I'm 1/2 Polack myself, and my obsession with eastern euro women should be well known...)

The Witcher certainly has some quirks that prevents it from being fantastic, but I still had a blast playing through it ;D.

Skyrim (for PC), loving the game. Playing it on ultra graphics makes me want to cry at how gorgeous some of the sights can really get.

Journey - wrapped up most of the trophies, all I need to get is the "Companion" one, but it's totally reliant on playing with a random internet person, so it may be very tricky to get... great little game, even if it's more of an art piece than the gameplay intensive titles I'm usually into
Akai Katana - one of Cave's better games, awesome music
Xenoblade - already 75 hours into it, I could see myself playing for another 75 hours... insanely long game but very very good
Tombs and Treasure - beat this game the other day, for the first time. even though I owned it as a kid, I kept on getting stuck near the end.
Monster World IV - finally translated to English! almost done with this one, it's an excellent side scroller/action RPG. Highly recommended, though Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap is still my favorite in the series (see my avatar, nuff said!) - I bet that SEGA guy would've loved this if he was still around :(

I guess I'm not technically playing it, but most recently SaGa Frontier. Just finished it the other day. Pretty great game.

Princess Waltz. After having finished "9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors" -- which I recommend.

Battletoads.

Exo's epic victory over this game at MZXCon inspired me to give it another go, and tonight, I finally made it to the end of Turbo Tunnel after 20 years. You'll all be the first to know if I ever finish this monstrosity.

Finished Princess Waltz, which ended up being a pretty decent game after the rather contrived first half. Next up, since I finally got the damn thing to install, Eien no Aselia. I don't recall if I started this before and put it down, but either way, I decided I want to play it [again?] after flipping through VNDB.

I randomly got the original FEAR and Choplifter HD from a Steam sale for $2.50 each. Both very well worth it - Choplifter is basically just like the original games except with much better aiming, and FEAR is still one of the best PC FPS games around. I played both for my usual Livestream group last night. Much fun was had applying jumping roundhouse kicks to clone soldiers and sending them flying. And I pulled off a well-executed ambush with a proximity mine and a remote bomb.

Gunman's Proof - at first glance, a total LttP clone.. but instead of puzzle solving and nonlinear exploration, it's more of an action game with a big score component... how fast you beat a dungeon, how many treasures you find in the dungeon, and how much damage you take. It's pretty cool, and seems like some nice low-commitment gaming.

Ys Origin - beat the game with 2 out of the 3 characters and holy shit this game is so good! If you like action RPGs at all this is a must get. Everything about it is fantastic, great boss fights, awesome music, sweet level design. Only 20 bucks on Steam.

This. So much. Seconded. I also played through it recently. If you're curious about it, you'll probably get a lot more out of it if you've played a Ys I/II game, though.

The game, due to its nature, is loaded with Ys I/II callbacks. It's interesting to see what they did with the old Ys I/II bosses... nearly every one of the Ys I/II boss monsters shows up at some point, some fairly similar to the original, others (the anticlimactic rock lobber of Ys I is now a gigantic CREEPER, and fighting it definitely isn't an anticlimax this time) not so much. If traditional Ys melee isn't your thing, there's Hugo, who pretty much gets by on button mashing and running around madly!

The unlocks once the game's completed with everyone are interesting, especially the unique boss fight. I've not unlocked absolutely everything yet, and I've yet to finish a Nightmare boss rush, but I've bought out what's in the bonus shop and completed the game with everyone's standard form and EX Yunica.

I do wish it felt less linear, though. Unlike (say) Oath in Felghana, once you were done with an area, you usually had little reason to go back to it.

GO NIGHTMARE OR GO HOME

I also finally played through Trine 2 recently. Definitely better than the first, which wasn't bad itself.
