set "commands" to "(-1>>1)"
you really ought to put a disclaimer on that. Your code probably doesn't even use more than 10m commands anyway

Nope.

Why a disclaimer? Because it can freeze the game if you've got a busyloop in there? I have it reset 'commands' to whatever it was after the bitmap is written. You can put that on a board filled with : "l" goto "l" robots and it won't cause problems. Because it's an arcane bit of code and relies on knowledge of how twos-complement integers are stored to understand? I do far more awful things in the code itself than on that little line =P
EDIT: Okay, maybe I don't, but still..

<Malwyn> Yes, yes. Don't worry I'd rather masturbate with broken glass than ask you for help again. :(

Yeah, so people who don't know what they're getting into don't try to do it and have that happen and lose their progress because they didn't use backups for some reason and then quit megazeux forever

but you can just load __test.mzx and all your progress will be in there! it's like an automatic EXTRA backup to make doubly sure you don't lose anything even if you're a complete bird
EDIT: Also, the code uses 106 + 352*tiles + 2*board_h commands. It can use 10 million commands if the board is even 300x100. It's not optimised at all.
(that 352 is actually 358 for tiles with overlay on them but anyway.

Forget I said anything about a release date. It's going to be finished, but I'm not going to stress myself too much over it.
In happier news, I found some old stuff from the mid 90's (I got a huge chuckle out of the DDX synopsis thingy):

I even found a bunch of old Weapons/Armor/Enemies lists of DDX (Exophase knows what I'm talking about).
I'll hopefully get them all scanned one day. Some funny stuff in there.

I think release dates are still valuable. The key is to not tell them to anyone, though. But they help you pace yourself, sort of like with a DoZ you know what rate to work, how much time to spend on things because you can see how much time you have left.
