Brilliant. I can just imagine creating a game start to finish this way, making it in-line as you go. I had daydreams in the past of a game whose objective is to make a game, where the game making experience is somehow translated into acceptable gameplay.

Useful that MZX has some of the framework in place that makes this sort of idea fairly natural.

The biggest board was when flimsy and i made sidescrollers out of 1bpp converted bitmaps, they were these horrible little closed universes, pointless yet sometimes temptingly passible. Unfortunately those were too big so the platforming was very slooooow

That sounds great. You could do something like that now with the levels on the vlayer. The biggest board I've ever seriously worked with is Codex, having a 500x250 board the entire game plays on.

See the game is only this big (each non-space, non-bang character represents a board), and a lot of that is cut and paste (each contiguous region is a "chapter"), so it's not that preposterous
