Here's a few screenshots of my upcoming game Ancient Legends. Everything you see on these is complete and working including a full psuedo realistic economy, detailed random encounter travel, randomised quests, prison simulator, tavern and loads more detail.

I'm at about 80% of a Beta release at the moment, and plan that to be finished soon. Then I'll need help ironing out the many bugs that are likely (especially with the economy!) before a final release.

I also might require help with some ambient music if anyone would like to collaborate? Music is not my strong point, I'd need a seperate track for Travel, In town and Tavern.

That looks great! It's nice to see a good "low" fantasy game being made. How are you handling combat?

Cheers Guys,

Combat is actually the only difficult engine I have left to do. It will not be derectly influenced by the player and basically all run behind the scenes when you encounter a combat situation in either travel, quest or the tavern. You will have full choice of equipment single handed weapons, double handed, shield armour, ranged. You also preselect your tactics like Berserker, offensive, defensive, stealth, traps, ambush, ranged. The combat engine will then combine those with your relevant skills depending on the enemy, location, weather ect. and produce results of the combat as a text feed until it is resolved.

Hopefully it should all combine to make the combats very unique and still feel like you won the combat just by your choices.

Well I designed the user interface book engine about a year ago but for a different game. Then had a bout of inspiration about two weeks ago and have barely stopped. Luckily my job at the moment is very reactive so I don't have anything to do on a day to day basis so I have been getting about 10-15 hours of programming a day!

I'm very close to finishing the Beta release which will be fully playable, only the combat engine, prison and finishing on the quest engine is required. There's a lot of green on my progress board!

Then and Alpha release after which will include a proper options menu, the main plot and a few other minor additions.

Finally will be V1.0 which will be bug fixed version of the above but with additional .txt based quest/encounter editor allowing anyone to easily add in their own quests, if I can get it to work.

Combat engine is complete, experience is finished, prison engine is good but needs a little expansion and save/load game & options is working ahead of schedule.

Things to do before beta: modify combat engine for tavern brawls, implement the crafting engine, a few minor remaining additions and some basic bugfixes.

Should be good for a release by the end of the week(or weekend).
