This. So much. Seconded. I also played through it recently. If you're curious about it, you'll probably get a lot more out of it if you've played a Ys I/II game, though.

Sounds like I need to put this on my queue.

I've been playing through Gradius games recently. After beating the Famicom Gradius II I decided to pick up Gradius Collection for PSP and Gradius V for PS2. That covers about all of them. This is my entire completion history so far:

Gradius I: PC-Engine
Gradius II: PC-Engine (on easy), Famicom
Gradius III: SNES (on normal)
Gradius Gaiden: PSP (on easiest :()

I've got a long road ahead of me.. the original Gradius 3 is so cheap even on easiest :| Gradius IV doesn't seem that bad but I haven't played that much of it. V is a real long haul.

between Rift and Team Fortress 2 i'm playing a little game called Noitu Love 2: Devolution. nuero recommended it to me and it's a wonderful frantic beat-em-up boss-mania platformer

My bro got me a 3DS XL so while all my stuff is packed away in boxes I've been playing that... and the occasional PC game. So, Theatrhythm, Mario 3D Land, New Super Mario Bros 2 (just beat this game with every star/moon coin today), and FTL.

I got NSMB2 but I haven't played that far into it. Frankly I didn't like NSMB1 that much and this game feels like a massive retread. But still at least a little better.

NSMB2 is definitely better than the original, though I think the Wii NSMB is still the best of the "new" series... NSMB2 gets good in the extra levels, especially design-wise, but it's no where near as hard as the Wii game. Supposedly the game was made by interns/rookies under the supervision of Tezuka, and the core EAD team is hard at work on the WiiU game.

The Last Story (Wii). It's... ehh... honestly the last big RPG, and the last big Wii game, that I played was Xenoblade. So any other game is gonna look pretty poop compared to that. Xenoblade is easily the Game of the Generation, it's an absolute masterpiece.

Have FF6 on loan from a friend and just got FF Tactics (PSX). So that'll be some new experiences for me. FFT is absolutely gorgeous, and...uh, surprisingly cinematic and brutal for those little guys.

You are in for a TREAT, KKairos, a treat. FFT has one of the finest moods painted by a video game and mainline Final Fantasy hardly was as polished or epic before or after.

I'm going to get back to Resident Evil 4 Wii at some point, although that game has aged so rapidly that i'm starting to have trouble enjoying it despite the exceedingly solid work they did on it and the fun controls.

Hotline Miami - not that great of a game, with its shitty hit detection and awkward controls, but damn the soundtrack is godly. When I showed the game to him, Nash said it reminded him of an MZX game (with the graphics and music which vaguely sounds like the Future Crew after a cocaine bender on Collins Ave in the 80's).

I didn't find the hit detection bad, except for instances where executing ground kills could leave you invulnerable, leading to you being able to take out a lone shotgunner that should have killed you. Oops. Similarly, but part AI issue, sometimes enemies will be right at your location and then shoot their firearms, totally missing because the shots extend out juuust a bit from the person firing. Whoops!

I haven't finished it yet, but it has one hell of a presentation. It's also ridiculously violent, even more so than the screenshots let on.

Just finished FFT. Good game. Kind of a downer ending. I don't know if I've ever seen sprites that were quite that expressive in a game before; I was really impressed.

But man, that was darker than I anticipated. (Bear in mind that the only FFT game I played before was FFT Advance, which, while it has some twisted moments, was overall I think much more lighthearted.)

Recently I was hooked on this game called Mount and Blade: Warband with the Napoleonic Wars DLC. Great fighting game if you ask me.

Other than that, it is mostly Arma II, Dwarf Fortress, Kerbal Space Program, and those Total War games.

Fire Emblem: Heroes of Light and Shadow thanks to the recently released fan translation; I even played Shadow Dragon first.

My personal mage unit, J.G., is kicking ass.

I just finished Telltales "The Walking Dead" and I'm all torn up. That game can evoke some powerful feelings. I was so depressed at the end. What a great story that game had.

Also playing "Fez". I love that game, aesthetically very pleasing. Unfortunately it crashed on a recent save, so I had to start over. I was replaying to try and find all of the anti cubes. *sigh*

I've been playing minecraft for about a year, but felt I needed to take a break for a bit, so I'm working on a megazeux game of mine again. So much renewed interest all of a sudden, hopefully I can make some real progress before I lose interest. Not sure why that always happens.
Currently working on Servo for MegaZeux, I hope to complete it by the middle of 2015? Who knows...

I dunno, but uh...On seeing your name, I totally checked to see if you were that Graham.

Suffice to say your big Amnesia player would be tons easier in current versions of MZX than when you first did it.

Right on, I didn't think anyone would even remember that. It was a long time ago. Yeah, once sprites were introduced I started redoing it. It's quite a bit complete, I may finish it one day but there are two problems. One, over complication. I gotta learn to stop making it more and more complicated. Two, the gameplay sucks. Honestly, it's not that fun to run around that game, there isn't really a hook to make it exciting.

I'm working on a game that doesn't have those problems. One I'm much more excited about. Along the same lines as amnesia. Large sprite, side scrolling. With 8 bit graphics to make it a bit easier to create. Hopefully I do not lose steam on it.

It's okay. None of the routes are particularly strong and I felt it could have done more with the characters.

It's still overall one of the better free titles I've played, though. Pleasantly strong production values.
