I have been playing the absolute shit out of Xenoblade Chronicles for the past month, since I got it for Christmas. I've put about 120 hours into the game so far and am maybe 70-75% through it. It's ridiculous fun though.

Also my computer's in the shop for repair so that's why I haven't been on IRC for a few days. You were all really worried about that, I'm sure.

To lie is to change the truth.

......And escape is to run away from the truth.
It is useless to run, since the truth is right next to you.

Absolutely breathtaking game, it took me about 140 I think... that is with every quest done. What part are you up to? The final few dungeons drag on a bit but other than that... wow.

I am playing Ni No Kuni, about 10 hours into it so far. It's great but it's a bit on the grindy side. Lots of battles (even though they go fast).

Replying for Wervyn. He's up to about 129 hours now and he's at the final dungeon, but with several of the late game quests and leveling to do. Yeah, it's an awesome game!

Surgeon simulator 2013. I just thought I'd share this game with everyone as it looks freaking hilarious. I haven't played it but I heard its on steam green light and is free. Looks like 15 min of fun but a unique experience none the less. Here's a video.

That somehow got Greenlit, meaning you can eventually get it on Steam. I guess having only Bad Rats and The War Z as troll games on Steam wasn't enough for the "voters". Greenlight kind of makes me miss the days when Valve themselves passed on SpaceChem and La-Mulana for things like Stalin vs Martians, and is a great palliative for when I think I'm a horrible person.

Anyway, I'm playing Mark of the Ninja. Best stealth game since the series that opened with rambling about bear pits.

I had that space trading and combat sim itch again, but Ascii Sector and Freelancer couldn't scratch it this time because the former hasn't had a major update in two years and my laptop can't handle the latter very well.

Then I found Escape Velocity Nova. Asteroids meets Elite. Very simple, but that just means it's very customizable.

Finally, finally got around to playing Treasure Adventure Game. It's buggy, but also a long and worthwhile sidescroller with lots of stuff to find and use.

Yeah Sora no Kiseki is awesome (I've only played the english released one on PSP, but I own 2 and 3 on PC). Definitely a slow-burner but it's really worth sticking with.

I've been on the hunt for a new job so I haven't been doing much gaming. Beat Ni No Kuni after 70 hours (with all but 2 of the trophies) and have been dicking around with Sonic Generations, it's surprisingly good. Not on the level of S3+K but easily the best Sonic since then.

Downloaded Rogue and started playing it for the first time. I'm in dungeon five or something and haven't died yet, so wish me luck, I'll probably eat it soon I'm sure.

Also downloaded dwarf fortress and started to look into it. Reading tutorial stuff, but don't expect I'll get far, at least not for a while. It intrigues me, but I just don't have the time right now for something like that.

Last thing I played was Bioshock Infinite. I thoroughly enjoyed it; I think it completely separated away from its System Shock roots, but this ended up being a good thing. Bioshock was always regarded as an inferior System Shock 2, while Bioshock Infinite is its own game and a pretty impressive one at that. Even if I was predisposed to like the story due to personal biases. =P

Bastion? Everything about it is slightly on the edge between "charming" and "gaudy faux folksy" so I can see some people hating it and some loving it. I'm not a big fan but it's a pretty cool game.

I've heard on a number of podcasts that it is. That's one I've got my eye on, when I've got some time and money. I've heard that you can play entirely stealth and not kill anyone for an achievement. Hint: don't kill that first guy in the tutorial, I've heard it doesn't say anything about being able to not kill him and if you do you'll miss the achievement.

Far Cry 3. Not sure whether I'm meant to take the plot seriously.

EDIT: Finished Far Cry 3. I can see what they were trying to do; I think the focus on characters was a little too weak for them to successfully do it. The false choice at the end didn't help (the fact that the entire game gave such a focus to this particular dichotomy you could see a choice along these lines appearing at the end - but the game half-asses it and makes one choice an obvious bad end, delegitimising that choice.)

It was, however, a good game.

I played through Thomas Was Alone yesterday. Pretty good, if short and somewhat easy, puzzle/sidescroller with droll narration. You can get it in Humble Indie Bundle 8 for pretty cheap at the moment, if you're so inclined.

Also finished Constant C. Another puzzle/sidescroller, decent length and occasionally tricky, but has some mild Engrish. Also coincidentally in a currently-running bundle with an 8 in its title (Groupee's Be Mine 8).

Hotline Miami made that humble bundle absolutely worth purchase by itself (since I hadn't played it before.) To be honest, what I knew about the game (from reading about it, playthrough videos etc.) made it sound like a great idea that would end up being annoying to play - mouse aimed GTA1/2-style hand-to-hand combat on a somewhat angled display - but it all actually worked. Loads of fun to play- although I didn't finish it properly (missed a heap of masks and the whole puzzle thing) I think I'll probably go back to it again. There's not many games that can make me replay a level 20 times without me getting sick of it.

Not quite as fussed about the other stuff from that bundle I've played so far.

Thomas Was Alone was pretty awesome. I'm also pretty appreciative of English Country Tune.

Not so hot on Dear Esther though...

It's very medium-breaking. Characters will pursue you through routes. You can't even escape from them by loading your game. I bet the reason the game ships on a USB drive is so it can pull a Hobo Dan and snargle if you get a bad end.

HMBLBNDL?

Organ Trail is a really great experience if you feel nostalgia towards Apple computers or old Oregon Trail computer games, both of which apply to me. It was great fun and came off with a surprisingly haunting experience for me. Your mileage WILL differ, and I might even bet that you'd hate it, if you aren't really into this nostalgia.

Stealth Bastard is not the most notable game, but it makes you feel smart quite often. It's like Super Meat Boy meets... thinking. Not very engaging but it's sort of fun if you're in the mood to kick back and just snooze through a game.

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed (PC), like three months too late. Pretty good kart (/boat/plane) racer, though I was disappointed in the complete lack of Phantasy Star (there's a BURNING RANGERS stage, of all things (:D), but nothing Phantasy Star).

Fable III because FREE XBOX GAMES. Pretty terrible overall since you can't actually die or really impact the game in any meaningful way til the end of the game. NPC interaction is really, really awkward.

Initially, apart from some inexplicable moments and overly dramatic scenes, it plays out like a pretty normal story with the main heroine. You get a good ending with her. It's when you try to take another path through the story that problems occur- you see, she isn't in love with the protagonist, she's in love with the PLAYER, and doesn't like it when you start looking at other girls! So she follows you. She'll try to kill the protagonist. She'll try to delete the other heroine. You can't escape.
