After watching the E3 presentations from both Xbox One and PS4; What did you guys think of them? Which one would you prefer and why?

I personally was let down by the XBOX ONE, considering I only got into buying consoles solely based on the fact that I can trade games among my friends and then even sell some or trade some at vendors. The XBOX doesn't support this in the old fashion way, so I was completely disappointed with that fact.

I'm not going to get either of them, but the PS4 seemed to 'win' E3 hands-down, inasmuch as any console can win a conference. Waiting until after Microsoft had announced all the ridiculous DRM and the starting price was a pretty genius move.

I'm probably not going to buy anything either, unless something really compelling gets released.. but the whole thing has been pretty amusing to follow. I can't believe MS could take a strong position in the current market and what should have been a substantial financial advantage (last I heard Sony was buried in debt and in serious trouble, with a borrower rating slipping close to the bottom) and do this with it.

I've yet to really see why I'd use a console over my PC. The specs are roughly the same and can play most of the same games (that fall under my interests).

I must say though.. the PS4 being only 400 bucks is a steal. I'd get it just to replace my DVD player lol

I don't see how it's any sort of contest... unless you're really, REALLY invested in the xbox franchises, there's no reason to get the xbone over a ps4 or a pc.

The xbone's exclusives better be fucking fantastic if they want to turn the tide... however, I have the feeling we're just gonna be getting a lot of kinect 2 junk.

I am personally not interested in what Xbox One has to offer right now, and I doubt a lot of other Xbox 360 owners are, either. As it stands my Xbox is a SPELUNKY MACHINE and that's really the only thing I do with it. I mean, most FPS or 3D games require a mouse & keyboard to really control effectively, so that relegates any console I buy to basically play arcade and retro games. (that could possibly rationalize a modern Nintendo console purchase like the Wii U, oh god did I really just say that)

I liked the general direction they were trying for with the Xbox One. Instead of just straight beefing up their console, they focused on working with other devices to have a more centralized media experience. It's always actually been one of my dreams to have a smart home entertainment system that's connected between rooms so I can do anything I want from one, or any, rooms--for example, pick up a game of Skyrim on my PC off of my Xbox (currently impossible, but why should it be impossible?), or blast Pandora simultaneously from each room. Xbox One's television integration (or whatever?) is a step towards this* but it's just not far enough for me to care. And as for this Smartglass thing, who the heck is going to look down at a tablet while you actually get free time to play a game? Sure it could engage you when you're out and about or whatever but, really?

It sort of feels like they tried this approach with Windows 8 as well, and fell short. As someone that is forced to install Windows 8 on computers over and over at work, I can appreciate Microsoft's intent as of late but it's just not good enough. I think this new console is going to go down in history as too little too late, just like Windows 8.

* The only feature that interests me right now is that it can turn on your television without a remote. With a kid around, there is never a remote.
