Played Save the Date recently. It's highly entertaining. Starts out like a game about a date and turns into being about some other stuff. It's a tad pretentious, maybe. But it has some interesting things to say, at least.

I just finished watching a play though of The Last of Us and Holy SHITBALLS I never wanted a PS3 so badly. The gameplay doesn't look super great, pretty repetitive if you ask me. But the story is better than any movie I've seen in the last few years. I think it's worth a play just to experience the story, not to mention it just looks fantastic.

Started playing Soul Hackers for 3DS... I love the 90's cyberpunk setting, but the gameplay is a bit clunky (being that it's a port of a '97 game that feels clunky even for a game of that vintage). This is honestly the oldest SMT I've played so that may be why I'm not used to it yet...

but I can't argue with a game that has a talking coyote sending you on a Vision Quest. That's the kinda shit I'm into in games...

Just recently finished playing Final Fantasy - I had played parts of it before but I'd never completed it.

It's an atrocious game in terms of interface and many of the mechanics, but there's some things to really like about it and it has the same 'distilled JRPG' rawness of the first SaGa game, even if it's not as good.

Just played this one. Great stuff, great atmosphere, great storytelling. It reminded me most of all of the DuClare chateau level in Deus Ex

My only complaint would be that the payoff, the revelation at the end not only wasn't a huge shock; it was actually the first thing I suspected had happened.
Spoiler

I guess I do have one other complaint; for the length of the game in question (I think it took me an hour and a half? I was extremely methodical) I think the asking price ($20) was a bit steep. I may be a sucker for not getting it during some sale or as part of a humble bundle or something, but nonetheless, that's what it cost me and I'm not sure there's $20 of entertainment to be found in here. I don't think I'm being overly miserly here; I'm not exactly a penny pincher when it comes to games. I'm happy to pay five to six times Gone Home's price for eroge on preorder and I pretty regularly back >$100 tiers on Kickstarter etc. I do think this game was too expensive though.

Is the ending even intended to be a surprise? I figured it out by seeing review screenshots of in-game art assets, for crissakes. I haven't touched the game yet

Asura's Wraith - it's really fun and has some great presentation, even though I'm not one for linear, QTE-heavy games I'm having an absolute blast. Love the hindu-inspired setting/storyline.

If you want to play a decent gameplay eroge this definitely counts as one.

I just started GTA 5. Anyone else playing it? It's got it's high points and it's low points, just like all the games in the series. I actually own every GTA game. Not out of some huge love of the series, though I think Rockstar delivers a pretty high quality product. I just like to collect an entire series of something. There's 13 GTA games by my count. Though I don't own a physical copy of China Town Wars yet, just have it on my iPhone.

Wait, I think Rayman Legends was the best. They're both just excellent games that scale well with 1-4 players, all skill levels, and casuals/collectors.

and now finished Toushin Toshi!

These are old AliceSoft games, so they're available for free (AliceSoft is cool like that) - the gameplay is pretty antiquated though.

For reference, Toushin Toshi is from 1990. Toushin Toshi 2 is from 1994.

Started playing "7 Days to Die" as I'm an alpha tester for the game. Its basically like Left for Dead meets Minecraft. Its pretty fun but at times can be frustrating with constant hordes of zombies and no weapons. I find most recently games that have included weapon durability make the weapons die or become useless before they've even run out of ammo. Hopefully this gets fixed!

For anyone that doesn't know about 7 Days To Die, here is a video of some of the gameplay:

Currently getting through Assassin's Creed 3 because I never actually beat that.

Then it's beating Arkham City which I never actually beat and maybe replaying Arkham Asylum. I've gotten a fair way through Arkham Origins but it's starting to bore me so I don't know if I'll actually finish it.

Also, there's GTAV which I still need to get through but I've been avoiding it because my PS3's hard drive needs replacing and that game is fairly hard drive intensive, so I am kind of worried that playing GTAV will just crash the thing completely. Also, the last time my PS3's hard drive went all corrupt I lost my save which was about 30% through the fairly long campaign, which makes me kind of not want to start over again.

Also I'm slowly plonking along with Lancer's red, though I haven't actually really felt like playing Megazeux games lately.

Finished Rance III

I think I actually like the Toushin Toshi games more than the early Rance titles. Still, it was pretty decent.

Next, going to play Rance IV.

I'm also replaying Cross Channel and when done with that I will replay Saihate no Ima.

I played Rance01 a little while ago. It's a modern remake of AliceSoft's original 'Rance', which was released in 1989. I think AliceSoft have done a pretty good recreating the original experience with more modern features, and it also has one of the best 1v1 battle systems I've ever seen (pretty much necessary since in the original game you only controlled Rance). I'll have to rip it off sometime.

I'd recommend it, but unlike the other AliceSoft games I've been mentioning in this thread, it's untranslated and not free. You can play the original game (translated and free) but I wouldn't really recommend it as it's pretty awful. Skip the first two games and play Rance 3 instead.

Pretty short, but amazingly fun. Hero mode (unlocked after beating the game once) is pretty brutal as you take 4x damage from enemies, meaning that you'll be taken down in 1-2 hits for a good portion of the game.
<Nadir> mzxers don't make GAMES, usually
<phthalocyanine> they make experiences.
<Nadir> demos, more like
<Nadir> a glimpse into what could have been if mzx wasn't such a bore to work with
<Nadir> actually, i'm being unfair
<Nadir> i would have made mzx games if it was capable of running on more than 20 computers worldwide in 1998
<Nadir> >:D

<%nooodl> i hear C++ has a thing called functors and they're completely different from Haskell functors...
<rorirover> the result is the most horrid thing in C++, it's basically black magic and it transforms any code you're writing into some eldritch monstrosity

I've gotten sucked back into playing minecraft a little bit with version 1.7.2. I'm going back to vanilla minecraft because i was using mods but got sick of the laggy, glitchy, crappy frame rate issues I was having. I may check out a mod called blue vanilla though http://www.minecraft...launched-today/, it looks promising.
