To kick off The Month of Clicking (where I try to reduce my huge backlog of adventure games), I ended up playing The Cat Lady, which was one hell of a starting choice. It's a game that's... probably not for most people for several reasons (e.g.: gore, depression, creaky AGS engine, distinct art style), but I definitely don't regret playing it.

Yeah I started watching a play through of it on YouTube. It looks interesting and creepy. It looks like it has a revenge story, which I like.

Really far along in Bravely Default. Think I'm on the last chapter... unfortunately, the last bit of the game is really really repetitive and is just mainly boss fight after boss fight... was LOVING it up till that moment though.

Wild Arms XF - really challenging strategy spinoff of the Wild Arms series. So good though. But long and challenging!

Shovel knight. Bought it on steam. It's quite a love letter to nes games.

100% ORANGE JUICE

Fairly fast-paced board game with online play where you make XD faces while throwing dice and chickens beat you up. 120/100

Relatedly, sort of, Tabletop Simulator is pretty neat, even with its current rough patches (like in downloading workshop content).

That's what I figured, though I tend to digest games more slowly, so I'm still in the beginning few levels. But I love it!

I've played the first few levels of Shovel Knight and it's really good. A nice cross between Mega Man and DuckTales. Hasn't been too challenging as of yet, and nothing has truly blown me away, but it's still a very well-produced game. And Virt's soundtrack is of course wonderful.

It's pretty fantastic. I will say the bosses felt pretty satisfying to beat, which is a good sign. Not the hardest game ever and yeah, not exactly a blow-you-away. But a solid adventure with a good challenge curve and whatnot.

Also Luke, you'll be getting a PM from me shortly.

Lightning Returns... such a stressful game. Who had the bright idea to make a non-linear game with large environments to explore, time-sensitive subquests to solve (and you need to do these to level up; there's no grinding in this game)... and then give you a rigid time limit? XIII-2 is still the best of the "Fabula Nova Crystalis" series.

I'm about to beat Suikoden IV. What a terrible game... probably the weakest of the Suikodens I've played. The concept of commandeering your own ship and recruiting party members for it is awesome and could have made for an interesting twist on the Suikoden series, but everything feels very undercooked. It doesn't help that the areas are really small, sailing around the world map has you running into an encounter literally every 2 seconds, and the graphics are really dull and overly grey. Music is nice, that's the only positive I can see...

I made an awesome discovery last night Freedom Planet. I don't quite know what to say about this game, I don't know that I can do it justice. It's the best Sonic the Hedgehog game I've played since Sonic 3 & Knuckles. It's not merely a Sonic the Hedgehog knockoff, though this game's aesthetic borrows heavily from that series. This game is a logical progression; it's what should have appeared on the Saturn if things had turned out right. It has brilliant level design, branching pathways, challenging obstacles, intelligently laid out paths that reward you for thinking quickly at speed, cutesy mascot aesthetics, and beautiful sprite pixel graphics. It is glorious to look at. It expands on the theme though with so much more; a great story, unique characters with their own abilities, cool power ups. and I've only played a few hours, who knows how much more is in store.

Sega should be ashamed, this is what Sonic the Hedgehog could have been. I've read a few reviews and they all mention Shovel Knight. And why not? This game is to Sega Saturn (or Genesis if you wish) what Shovel Knight is to NES. It's a love letter to a type of game you don't see anymore. Check it out if you haven't yet, it's ridiculously fun.

It's available on GOG and Steam.

Playing Through Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. Not quite as good as Bowser's Inside Story, but still pretty fantastic so far.

Thanks, good recommendation. Enjoying it a lot. Seems to keep all the best part from the original Sonic series while ignoring some of the biggest problems. The balance is a little different too, but in a good way - in particular, some of the bosses are pretty challenging (I just cleared stage 4 and that boss took me like 10 tries, blegh)

The only thing I'm missing is some kind of bonus stage, which was always a Sonic hallmark. Unless they're in there and I somehow missed it. Oh, and it'd be nice if the story sections were tighter/shorter (and maybe more frequent to compensate) but I can see how that doesn't really fit with the way the plot's laid out.

Yeah, I'm glad somebody else is enjoying it as much as me. There wasn't much advertising for it, so I don't know how much attention its getting, I just happened upon it on GOG. I agree about keeping the best parts and ignoring the problems. The later 2d ventures in the Sonic Series (I'm thinking about the ones on Gameboy Advance and Nintendo DS) while good, only satisfy the itch I've felt for a long time just a little bit. They seem to miss the point and focus on speed a lot, and they lack the really good level design and exploration factor. And lets not mention those disappointing Sonic 4 episodes with the mangled physics and controls. I guess Sega Should have employed fans of the original games to do a proper sequel. But this is really good, very satisfying.

I beat Suikoden Tactics recently and all 3 of the OG Game Boy Mario Land games. Suikoden Tactics was surprisingly good, definitely more enjoyable to me than 3 or 4, even if the story is silly (cannons that turn people into fishmen, wtf).

Now I'm gonna finish up Bayonetta 2, and also, Nash bought me a 3DO for Christmas, so I'm starting a collection of games for the system.

Just finished playing Super Mario Bros 3mix, an SMB3 ROM hack, after seeing the review on Cinemassacre. I don't normally play ROM hacks, but this one was very thorough and well done - it'd have pretty easily passed as an official sequel of sorts. That is, if it didn't have all the glitches and slowdown, which do bring down the experience a bit, but not too badly. Would probably say that it's all in all a little more fun than the original SMB3, and it's especially rewarding to get all the special coins and play through all the bonus levels.

I actually never got around to playing Suikoden Tactics, despite being a big fan of the series. I got it around the same time Suikoden 5 came out and just didn't bother. Now I don't really feel like playing it since I don't remember the plot to 4 that well.. maybe it'd be best to read a summary first or something, since I definitely don't feel like replaying it.

But Suikoden 3 I enjoyed a lot, despite some of its flaws. Even if it seemed to put a lot of fans off.

Are you going to play 5? It's generally regarded as a return to form even by people who weren't happy with 3 or 4. I desperately want a decent 6th entry to happen, what with all the plot threads left open, but I doubt it ever will now :(

I am playing the hell out of two games that have the initials D and D. You can guess one from recent MZX releases, and you can use my track record as a respectably nerdy person with new (and likewise nerdy) roommates to guess the other one.
Need a dispenser here.

Tactics fleshes out some of the characters in 4 a bit more and takes place a few years after, in Kooluk (which you didn't get to visit in 4 apart from Fort El'Eal). I played Tactics right after 4, so I really can't say for sure but I think if you read a summary of 4's plot you should be caught up enough to make sense of everything. I do think its worth playing if you're in the mood for a decent SRPG.

I am definitely gonna play through 5, since I've heard lots of good things (except for the load time...) Since it's supposedly the longest game in the series by far, I'll wait until my next long vacation before starting. I eventually even want to go through the DS one and maybe even the Japan-only PSP game, even if they have little (nothing?) to do with the rest of the series.

As for what I'm playing now? Threads of Fate - beat it with Rue and nearing the end with Mint. Game is oozing with charm, and some of the finest polygon graphics on the PS1. But controls are pretty clunky (especially with regards to anything platforming) and the difficulty level is a cakewalk. Also, some Bayonetta 2 and Theatrhythm: FF Curtain Call on the side. Gonna start the fan translation of Emerald Dragon SFC soon.

hai guiz

Lately I've been playing a mix of World of Warcraft, Elite: Dangerous, and Mass Effect.

After leveling my faithful death knight up to 100 in WoW, I started working on a warlock. I can proudly say that after almost eight years of playing I finally managed to get a warlock past level 25! Woo!

Elite: Dangerous is fun. I love sandbox space games and that's done a fantastic job of scratching that particular itch of mine. Some of the upcoming features excite me, too.

I have beaten the first Mass Effect, but when I finally got around to starting the second game about a year ago I'd lost my save files. When I played through a bit I found myself increasingly dissatisfied with the prefabbed choices that the stock ME2 save gets you. I put it on the backburner for a while as a result.

Fast-forward to recent times. ME3 was selling for something like $5 on Origin over Christmas, so I snatched that up and resolved to play through all of the games again, thoroughly. I spent so much time doing side-missions so far that I'm around 15-16 hours in and I just advanced to the point where I can do the Virmire quest. Crazy.

Aside from that, occasionally I fire up the Wii U and play something on there, usually either Hyrule Warriors, some Smash Bros, or grabbing some collectibles in Super Mario 3D World.
:)

Zigguraut.

Of the randomized FPSes I've played, I hate this one the least by far. It's got the whole Heretic vibe going on (and the same fake Doom "cheats", even), but it's a bit speedier. Neat weapons, interesting characters once they get unlocked, decent variety of enemies (for now). The roguelike tendencies can really screw a player over sometimes, but that's pretty typical.

Mind, I haven't gotten around to Heavy Bullets yet, which looks pretty decent.
