Well, it's just that I can already play FF7 now (and it still holds up), so I'm not getting anything new. It'll be prettier, sure, but it's pouring development hours into an effort that doesn't actually expand the library of JRPGs - you could put the same staff to work creating a new game and you'd probably be able to make something pretty awesome. So, while it would be nice, it's not like we get it for free - we're getting it instead of something else. I guess I'm just pointing out that the mainline Final Fantasy series has been so sad for the past 10+ years that the thing we're getting an FF7 remake instead of would probably be shit anyway - that's why the FF7 remake announcement is a little bit bittersweet for me; if we had any faith whatsoever in Square Enix to make a main series FF game that was actually any good we wouldn't be quite as excited for this*

Shame we didn't see more of SaGa Vita
Wait what, SaGa's not dead? What the hell, why haven't I heard of this before?
*well, okay, that may not be true. People request remakes for everything - and I'm glad that, most of the time, the developers don't listen to them. There's been a constant hum of requests for Bethesda to remake Morrowind, and it's usually mixed up in nostalgia for elements of Morrowind's story quality, game design and mechanics that didn't make it to Oblivion and Skyrim; but it's not like those elements are inextricably linked to Morrowind. If Square Enix is able to remake FF7 and do a good job of it, surely they're just as capable of making a new game that's as good as FF7, but one we haven't already played over and over again.
