Died at age 55 of a bile duct growth. Really sad to hear this news, it was awesome to see someone who got his start as a programmer (for awesome games like Earthbound and Balloon Fight and the US version of Dragon Warrior 1), rise all the way up through the ranks to become CEO. And it was never a dull moment for Nintendo with him around.
