Well, with the battles moved, I'm gonna try somthing. I want to set it up so that an encounter sends you to the fight screen, not that comunication screen. I will add in to the fight screen, the ability for you to hail the enemy, and them the ability to hail you. (either party can decline the hail if they are in a fighting mood) This will alow me to do neat stuff like where you might be trying to get an item from the enemy ship but they wont cough it up, then you just start shooting untill they hail you begging for mercy. Ok, that problem with starport has been fixed, I also cleaned up the repair screen, and got some major work done on the H-space board, (had to mod it for the swap worlds). Everythings looking good so far.

Darn! i was hoping for a 3d flight thing like starfox , maybe at the end of the game or on the tiitle screen, have some 3-d gibberish? Maybe for the moving from space to hyperspace... just a thought... kinda like a little cinema clip... :D

Yeah, not working on a flight simulator, The aim was more of a tactical simulator. As for cut sceens? Yeah I'll be giving it a shot.

Speaking of Starfox, I was thinking, do you think it'd be possible to do that sort of thing in mzx? In case you don't know, I'm talking about snes starfox. Using a voxel engine and stuff.... Personally I don't think it could be done, but even if it was, it'd probaly be slow as crap.

Whats this? I've actualy gotten some work done on the communications screen? Can it be?

Any way yeah, I'm actualy working on it now, (for those who missed it, I've done this twice and both times overshot my self and had to scrap everything)

It's not much yet, but I drew in some cool looking aliens, (that part always seemed harder to me than the actual code)

Any way lets see if I can finaly get one of these to work :asthanos:

Oh Kenokhi, if you want a cool looking 3d starfield (like the screensaver flying through space) Artith created one for the gameover screen of Random Land. I could send it to you if you wanted.

I'll check it out, but I can almost guarintee it wont work, the screen have 0 board space, 0 overlay space and 0 robot memorty. the "SPACE" is actualy copyed from 2 buffers onto another buffer and finaly up to the top where you see it.

(Thats why I was slightly limited. :asthanos:)

Alright, I think I've actualy got a comm screen that I can use now, it looks pretty good and the code will be easy to alter. I have all the actual code finished (there's not a lot really) all I have to do with it is make carbon copys and plug in different text. Also I decided to *animate* the aliens in on the screen, I've already made one and it looks pretty damn good. If I can keep it up I'll be set. Also I've broken it off to its own world and finished all the code that links it to the other worlds.

Also I might still add in a pre- comm screen. This would, after you've had an encounter, display the ship and offer you the chance to hail it, or just skip to battle if you feel talking will get you nowhere.

Also I have not thrown out the idea of in combat hails, it will be a little tricky, but I think I can still do that.

I have this strange theory that KenOhkii has made NO PROGRESS on this at all, and is still designing the title screen, dreaming about how cool this is going to be. He's got an overactive imagination, and is good at making fake screen shots.

Well, my thread is only about 30 posts behind yours...

but to stay on topic, I could spice up your game by changing the palette for you...judging by your screenshots, you're using a slightly modified version of the default EGA palette. I can help you fix this. Just give me an example board in the form of an ANS format (hit Alt+X in the editor and select "ANS"), and I'll get workin for ya!

Actually that IS the default palette

Originally I planed to edit it, but when I got to that point, I had already used EVERY single color on every single board, the reason I don't go back and edit it is because I would have to retain the relative contrast between each combination of color. (There are a lot) Really I think it looks ok for the default palette, goes nicely with the relaxed approach to graphics.

(The char set on the other hand, look in the general forum)

I'll just tweak the default colors a bit so it SEEMS like a new palette, but works the exact same way.

Ok ok ok,

I shot down a MAJOR bug that cropped up out of nowhere and made the planet expo. screen unplayable.

I just started up again today, now I'll go shoot down that thingy with the warning thing at that one board.
