SFmzx has a top down view of combat (like all the other screens) so they are quite different. The challenge of the combat is in the energy management, If you turn all your systems on and accelerate too much so that your energy is draining faster than it can recharge your in trouble. Running out of energy causes your systems to be shut down (shields turn off, weapons turn off, and your engines shut down) that leaves you stranded and very vulnerable.

Ok, I start my new job on monday, soon as I get that straitend out and make leave of the old job I will get a heck of a lot of work done.
I've been adding neat little things to the battle screen, nothing too big, just all the little things that make it more enjoyable. Soon...

Oh and I hunted a few bugs out of the Comm screen, that's all set to go now (this was the only really big thing left to do)

With in a week or two, I will begin the cranking out of all things SFmzx, as soon as that begins you will all be standing face to face with a SWEET demo of it.

Ok third list of bugs is out; the count is down to 25 (mind you these are made primarily of debugging things I've left behind) about an hour of work to knock all these out. Then I plan to do something graphically with the system travel board (needs some spice) perhaps I'll work with the planets to make em' look better or something.

As soon as this list is KOed, and I make those minor graphical changes, the demo will go into development.

I don't plan on releasing 2 demos, so a large part of the beta testing will be based on that demo. I'll fix any bugs when the game is small, not when it's finished and 400 boards need to be updated.

Regretfully this will push back the demo release date a little bit, (maybe add another week or two onto it)

Hmm, I'm still debating the platform, Right now this game is MZX3.1, I want to keep it there, but speed control and KOing the enter box is sorta neat...

I'm not going to set it up in Mzx2.62 just "because".
For one thing, new features WILL push back my release date, we might be talking 2-4 months, I'm not really sure. Secondly I'm not too sure I want to go through the hassle of re equipping every one with a new MZX, (and possibly fight all of their computers to get it to run).

I'll give it a little more thought, but as of right now, I'm not sure if the new counters are alone worth the delay in release.

LOL, I spent 2 hours trying to figure out why the DoZ games wouldn?t run on my computer, then I realized they were 2.62 :disturbed: Always forget that..


Besides, it's reverse compatible, so it's not like any players with 2.62 will be inconvenienced.

Unless you absolutely have to, keep it in s3.1. That's the best version in my opinion.

Ok, yesterday I discovered a problem... I have somehow been spelling Forward as "Foward" This has proven to be quite complicated to fix; I can't simply change the word to Forward because the box the text fits in only has room for 6 characters :disturbed: . Any way after a debate on IRC it was decided to change the word to "Front" (I still think "4ward" would have been better) :D

So now it reads like this "Front Hull hit for X damage."

Any way, crisis averted, returning to work now..

yeah well, Ive been up to date with this project ever since the begining (By begining i mean since me and ken have known each other)

so i am BY FAR THE MOST EXITED OUT OF ANYONE!

and, BTW, if any of you people think ken is lying his way through this to gain popularity, you are sadly mistaken, ive seen lots of his work and even played a few "demos" (if you can even call em that) and i can assure you, this game will rock the world!!!

Hey I've got an idea! What if you were able to own multible ships? And mabye store them at diffent starpoints across the galaxy so that when you need a fast transport you'd fly one ship and when you need to blow somebody up you'd pick another. The only way that you could possibly do this is with the FWRITE stuff. I don't know just an idea.
