Bad news.
I discovered a real nasty flaw with hot spots on planets, I fixed it, however at the cost of some of the engines stability. As it turns out the screen is now FAR too unstable for me to wish away. This will cause delay as I will now have to break up the robot that draws the ground of the planets into mulitple robots.

Not sure how far this will set me back, probably looking at another 2 weeks to correct it. :)

On the plus side, if I manage to pull this off, the planet exploration aspect of the game will be vastly smoother.

Damn..

Crap, this sounds really complicated. If this lives up to the full potential (which it sounds like it will) there will be no MZX game anywhere near half as good for al least 20 years. :)

KenOhki2112, you better have a help file with this game, it seems really complicated also as bomber_nuke88 said.

Heres the deal, I am confident I can change the planet code to eliminate all instablitly very shortly, however I am making some changes with the planets. First off hot spots are now more of a threat than before, secondly higher altitudes (which generaly have more minerals on them) now ALSO have tougher weather condidtions, (the worse the weather the slower your battery recharges and thusly the slower the lander moves)

And the biggie, Resources. Right now every planet has a limitless supply, each time you land all of the minerals come back in random places.
My proposal is to have a mincurrent and minmax for each planet, each planet can have so many minerals at any one point, each time you collect a mineral it reduces the mincurrent counter, when you leave and come back to the planet, instead of replacing all of the minerals you took (as it did before) it will now only make minerals equal to the mincurrent counter. (so endlessly mining the same planet no longer works) Now, the reason I have 2 counters is because minerals WILL replenish them selfs, say each planet will regain 1 mineral (if it's not already at max) per every 2-6 days (not sure how frequent I want it to be yet.)

Any way yeah, these changes along with the bug fix REALLY balance out all the planet lander stuff, hopefully I get em' done pretty quick.

And yes, there will be a help file. (in game probably)

Working on the new code for the planets, I set it up just now and it's ALMOST stable, it still needs to be trimmed though, it's faster, but still I get a small pause. (it is in that pause that every thing goes haywire.) Hopefuly I can straighten this out a bit more tomorrow.

Update:

So I completly changed the robotic behind that board, oddly enough my changes fixed the problem of stabilty, I really didn't expect that to work. I still need to finish up the changes, and THROUGHLY test the new robots. I am confident I can correct the problem with another hour or 2 of work.
Cross your fingers.

No I didn't.

Oh, also, I am having SERIOUS problems with the planet screen now, some how I managed to destroy the lander board with out touching it >.<

I can only hope to import some of the older robots off of one of my back ups, this is gonna be a major deal to clean up though.

Sounds good! Just to make sure, have you been making thorough back-ups on seperate disks/computers? I just don't want to see your computer crash and this will all be over.

I've not done any work out of frustration for the last 3 or 4 days.

I think I'm ready to get back to work now :)

I'll see if I can't get this mess cleaned up by monday.

As with Apollyon and Kuru, I also believe you can finish the game. How many boards are actually done, anyway?

good news, the board is now 100% stable, no more robots duplicating them selfs out of control and over wrighting other bots :)

I did have to sacrifce the work that was preventing the wait 1 when moving between sectors. At this point I am fed up trying to prevent this, I've tried several times and it doesn't look like it's gonna happen. Besides it's really not THAT demanding on game play, ground movement is still really smoth

On the plus side I think I can still fix the hot spot problem (this is if a hot spot starts, then you move sectors, the hot spot is not drawn to the correct spot so it looks like it jumps, then it goes back to the correct spot)

I'll deal with that when I get off work then I'm done with this major crisis! :D

Dang this things getting big. If the previous estimate was right, it'll take me 2 hours to download the whole thing. That's a bit wild.

Is the mouse going to be used?

Plus, how many counters is this thing going to use, because some people may not be able to run it due to memory problems. Imagine the swapfiles MegaZeux will be creating.

Btw, you do realize that betatesting it yourself isn't going to find all the bugs. There are some things that others might try that you hadn't though of trying. For example, something that would be utterly crazy and wouldn't make any sense of even trying, so you don't try but somebody else does and finds the bug.

Is it just me, or are people really losing interest in this game? I mean, sure he still has to do 240 boards, but should that put you off? I think KenOhki's still made a lot of progress, and the rest of the game should be cakewalk to do! The fact he's only a 24th of the way done shouldn't interfere with your enthusiasm, should it?

yes you guys got it,95% of those boards are carbon copys with different maps. It only takes about 2-3 minutes to make a board the way I've set it up.

Anyway, disregard the board count as a progress indicator.
